Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel

New Hampshire, New England

The hotel

If you like messing about on the water, this is the Portsmouth pad for you (and not just because of the heated pool inside). Just a stroll from Picataqua River, it’s an easy walk to the docks for the city’s harbour cruises – and you get glimpses of the water as you amble around the property. Some of the best views are from the casual but creative Two-Fifty Market – tucked away under the sweeping staircase of Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel, it’s a contemporary setting for classic dishes and New England favourites, including those ‘must tries’: lobster rolls and clam chowder (although it’s the harbour views that steal the show as you dine). The waterfront location also puts you close to Market Square, which throws you into coastal New England life, and to sights like Strawbery Banke Museum and historic Moffatt-Ladd House.

This hotel is conveniently located in Portsmouth. Nice full service Marriott option with lounge. As a titanium/ambassador member, I so value customer service. Alex F., the revenue/inventory manager is a true gem! He went out his way, while on vacation, to handle our many requests for our upcoming wedding. He is simply amazing and we are so grateful! The hotel also offers multi-bedroom condos - great option for families! For the previous reviews mentioning the outdated rooms, I believe they are under renovation. Thanks again Alex and team. Marriott, you are so lucky to have Alex! Read less

I gave 2 stars for nice lobby/bar area and location (where you can walk around harbor area). This Sheraton hotel is old and dated. It has a nice lobby area but the rooms are old and smelly. The carpets are old, the wall papers are peeling and the room has a stuffy, moldy, and lingering cigarette smell. The housekeeping did a good job cleaning the bathroom though. I still can’t believe they were charging $500+ a night for this place! This is only the second time staying at a Sheraton and both were very disappointing. It looks like Sheraton hotels need to renovate their old hotels. We travel a lot and will definitely stay away from Sheratons from now on. Read less

After reserving and paying for a room to the tune of $550 for a one night stay. My husband and I arrived after a 12 hour drive with our two small children only to find "something happened" to our room. They made no attempt to contact us and as soon as we arrived, they acted as if they did a huge favor by booking a room at a nearby dirty, dingy,… Read more

They made no attempt to contact us and as soon as we arrived, they acted as if they did a huge favor by booking a room at a nearby dirty, dingy, motel near a highway. We arrived at the motel and they had no record of the so called reservation. What a terribly disappointing way to start our vacation. Read less

We decided to stay overnight at the last minute and found a great deal using the government rate. We were on the club level so our stay included a delicious breakfast. Great room with a huge tv and comfortable bed and pillows. Enjoyed the use of the robe in the closet. Loved the roomy, glass door shower with the hand held sprayer. The room felt… Read more

Great room with a huge tv and comfortable bed and pillows. Enjoyed the use of the robe in the closet. Loved the roomy, glass door shower with the hand held sprayer. The room felt and redone. I don’t know if all the rooms on this floor are like this. I peeked in one while the door was open and I thought I saw a shower curtain. The air conditioner seemed noisy to my husband. We did self park but it’s right across the street so no big deal. Read less

Comfortable beds and pillows. Basic room. Friendly staff. Convenient walk everywhere. Mini frig in room. You have to ask for a coffee pot to be delivered to your room, but there is also complimentary coffee in the lobby.
