506 On the River Inn

Woodstock, Vermont

The hotel

The genuine Vermont experience, 506 On The River Inn is set in 6 stunning acres, is filled with quaint local artefacts, and serves regional microbrews at its antique bar. No wonder Condé Nast Traveler named it one of ‘The Places to Visit’. Soaking up Ottauquechee River views from your balcony’s rocking chair’s arguably the best pastime here – if you’re not distracted by the indoor pool and hot tub, well-stocked games room, toy-filled playroom, free WiFi, or nearby Woodstock (there’s free parking when you return). But life at the inn starts and ends in its lounge, where Chesterfields set the mood: every morning, its country kitchen’s laden with complimentary treats like French toast slathered in the family farm’s maple syrup; you can pour free tea and coffee all day; and, come evening, the bistro presents refined yet comforting dishes.

We stayed here two nights. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub were very clean and we had both completely to ourselves. The free breakfast was very tasty and very well presented. My wife loved the decorations. This was a great place to explore the town of Woodstock from. I would recommend this as a great place to stay.

A very good hotel indeed. Nice rooms with views out over grounds down to the river. A good number of seats outside including eight by the river. A lovely place to chill at the end of the day or at the fire pit later on. The restaurant was very good as was the bar - we didn’t expect that. Games room where I couldn’t resist the old pinball… Read more

Games room where I couldn’t resist the old pinball machine! Gym not up to much - slightly better than nothing. That’s a minor personal blemish. Overall this hotel was really excellent and would highly recommend. Read less

We had a ground floor room with walk out to our own patio with views across the back lawn. We were surprised with the high level of amenities on this property. The pool, Jacuzzi, and sauna were amazing. Two campfires at night and all you have to do is go to the front desk for S'more fixin's. The onsite restaurant served up delicious evening meals and the breakfast was amazing. Bravo, we will return again and again and again. Read less

Overall a very nice experience. PROs: Gardens, breakfast, ambience absolutely wonderful. Some details were well considered, others not. Please ask maid to park elsewhere in order not to block view from farmhouse suite to park. Had a sense of not-that-personal service - except nice mature lady in breakfast room who was really a find. Management absent? Read less

The back of the hotel looks out on a large green and out to the river - sat by the hotel's wonderful fire pits where wood and all the necessities are thoughtfully arranged, and they have s'mores packs to go from the hotel. Beautiful, relaxing, modern, thoughtful design (towel warmers). Plus the restaurant was an unexpected surprise - breakfast was phenomenal! No need for lunch after that! Had dinner there two nights in a row with good service and a very lovely environment. Read less
