506 On the River Inn

Woodstock, Vermont

The hotel

The genuine Vermont experience, 506 On The River Inn is set in 6 stunning acres, is filled with quaint local artefacts, and serves regional microbrews at its antique bar. No wonder Condé Nast Traveler named it one of ‘The Places to Visit’. Soaking up Ottauquechee River views from your balcony’s rocking chair’s arguably the best pastime here – if you’re not distracted by the indoor pool and hot tub, well-stocked games room, toy-filled playroom, free WiFi, or nearby Woodstock (there’s free parking when you return). But life at the inn starts and ends in its lounge, where Chesterfields set the mood: every morning, its country kitchen’s laden with complimentary treats like French toast slathered in the family farm’s maple syrup; you can pour free tea and coffee all day; and, come evening, the bistro presents refined yet comforting dishes.

My husband and I spent a weekend here in May while exploring Vermont. This like-new hotel has all modern conveniences, yet comfort and charm that the usual chains lack. Highly recommended! Our room was comfortable and overlooked a little pond. The grounds are extensive with ample opportunities for children to explore and for adults to relax. I went down to the lovely swimming pool on my first evening and had the place to myself. There are also toy and game rooms so you can't possibly be bored! We enjoyed the delicious and plentiful breakfast and marveled at all the old memorabilia in the dining room. My only comment would be that we didn't make dining reservations for our first night, as we had a long drive and weren't sure when we would arrive. The hotel restaurant couldn't fit us in and we had trouble finding any place in town that could. Weekends are busy so be sure to make reservations. There is MUCH to explore in this region and we found the hotel a wonderful and central base of operations for our touring. Read less

OMG. I wish I could rate the hotel more than 5 stars. My daughter and I had a lovely weekend. On our way to Derby, Vermont, we stayed the night at 506 on the river inn in Woodstock, Vermont. The inn was amazing. It was very clean and beautifully decorated with Vermont antiques. It was by far the best inn we have ever stayed. The staff were fantastic and the breakfast was good.

This is an extremely nice inn...it has a crispy new feel to it, wonderful rooms and hallways everywhere you go. The taste level of the overall facility is really off the chart. The room (second floor) was wonderful. We ate at the bistro in the inn, which was a superlative experience. Wish we could have stayed longer...we will be back.
