Hotel Vermont

Burlington, Vermont

The hotel

There’s something inherently cool about Hotel Vermont. And its effortlessly quirky edge makes you feel cooler just for staying there. Completely down-to-earth, it takes you back to nature in its dining venues and guestrooms, where oversized wooden headboards, stone tiles and woolly blankets fuse earthy modesty with urban polish. It may have its soul in unspoilt nature, but both feet are firmly in the gadget-packed present, with all the mod cons you’d expect, and plenty you’ve never considered, including Vermont’s fastest WiFi, mobile and tablet charging stations, and Instagram Scavenger Hunts with Vermont treats as prizes. Finishing touches include jazz and trivia nights, farm-to-table dining, a yoga studio, and bedtime stories. And they’ve added extras to guarantee a genuine Vermont experience, including the Beer Concierge’s craft brew tours, a local Activities Coordinator, and hotel bicycles.

What a treat to stay at this beautiful property. As soon as you set foot in the lobby you know you are not at an ordinary hotel-great art, bikes in the lobby to borrow, lots of local touches and textures. Check in was a breeze. The rooms have lots of unusual design and decor elements including sliding doors for the bathroom, indirect lighting under the bed, local textiles and appointments. The bed and bedding made for a great night sleep in the quiet guest floors. Each room has a carafe for water that can be filled with still or sparkling water from the dispenser in the hallway. The staff is friendly and helpful with everything from making sure you have all you need to answering the question about whether or not the chamomile tea is decaf-which it is! The location is fantastic-close to Church St. shopping and dining, Lake Champlain and the Burlington Greenbelt. Next time I come I hope to stay longer!! Read less

I brought a group of 21 people here from Chicago for a three-night stay. Everyone loved it! The rooms are beautifully designed, as are the public spaces of the hotel. We gathered for drinks at the lobby bar one evening. Interesting cocktails in an inviting space. It's located close to the lake and a short walk from many good restaurants. A… Read more
