Equinox Resort & Spa

Manchester, Vermont

The hotel

All the finer things in life come together at The Equinox, an historic golf and spa resort in the Green Mountains, with a guestbook that reads like the Who’s Who of American politics. The utmost in elegance, classic décor, refined public spaces, and exquisite dining fill this traditional white wooden inn, which is adorned with gracious two story columns and bottle green shutters. It’s the experiences that make a stay here special: swimming under the pool room’s vaulted ceilings, with mountain views; nibbling fine cheeses and chocolate truffles around the Falcon Bar’s king-size fire pit; dining where Presidents have at the 1769 Marsh Tavern; and trying outdoor pursuits like falconry, fly fishing, shooting, winter sledding, and off-roading in Land Rovers (there’s even a mini off-roader for little guests).

The room was spacious and clean, with luxury amenities and superb blankets and sheets. Very comfortable! We had a great night’s sleep. Our kids (aged 4 and 8) absolutely loved the pool. The hotel is walking distance to the town center, with outlet stores, coffee shops and several restaurants. The beautiful small-town culture and nature are hard to beat! Read less

We arrived a bit after check-in time and was told our room was not ready. So decided to chill for 4 hours:( Finally I had enough and stood at the check-in desk until I got my room. The front desk was not overly friendly nor in anyway helpful. Will I be back "NOOOOOOO". I would also suggest that if you don't drive a Bentley you might not want to not stay here. The staff really doesn't want your business, nor know how to deal with you. Read less

I had a 90 minute massage at the Equinox Spa yesterday and it was truly the best massage I have ever had, and I have had a lot! The amenities were spotless and quiet and refined and elegant and gracious. The treatment room was lovely and the choice of music was soothing. Absolutely gorgeous in terms of location, interior, and exterior. Our room was clean, modern, and spacious. I was constantly blown away by the contemporary and traditional decor. We spent the afternoon reading in the library next to the real fireplace while looking at Mount Equinox. What a perfect way to spend an afternoon. I couldn't think of a better getaway. Every amenity we needed and more was met by the friendly and accommodating staff. I wish we had time to check out the pool, spa, and hiking trails: make sure your visit is at least 3 days. Obviously a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Read less

Elegant and accommodating...hotel property inside and out is perfection. From the fireplaces in the main common areas to the fireplaces in the room. the outdoor patios and the scenery unsurpassed. We traveled during a quiet time of year so there was very little going on around us...which we enjoyed. the indoor pool, spa, gym and wood burning fireplaces were all that was needed. Make sure you eat at the Marsh restaurant (on site) - truly no reason to go elsewhere - and, order a fresh hot chocolate, extra whip cream! breakfast was fabulous - best pancakes on the planet. Dinner, just as good. not one entrée or meal was less than excellent. staff: all so accommodating. Jaye, Sara, Jonathan, Uzi at the front desk to bob, jessica, brenda, and lauren in the restaurant. Our Visit was short, yet they were all friendly and happy to tend to your every need. beautiful setting - property is simply perfect. Great weekend getaway and should you stay longer, plenty to do within a 30 minute drive. but again, why leave??? Rooms was very well appointed. If booking in the Orvis extension, it is a little more awkward for checking in and getting settled - but such a beautiful part of the hotel to stay. 2 bedroom suite is beautiful, but i do not recommend for those that are tall (6'+), as it is the top floor of building and there are dormers or slanted roof lines that cut ceiling height dramatically in parts of all rooms. Again, beautiful and living room is very comfortable, but be aware. Beds and towels are all oh so comfortable. Read less
