Where is it

Set in the village of Manchester, Vermont. This Main Street hotel is close to the boutiques, antique shops, museums, and dining hotspots of one of Vermont’s prettiest villages. And it’s also got all the seasonal attractions of the Green Mountains and Taconic Range in easy reach, from leaf peeping to skiing. It’s around an hour from Battleboro, three and a half hours from Boston, and four hours from New York or Montreal. Transfer time from Boston Logan International Airport: 3 hours 15 minutes.

All with 40" flatscreen HDTV, JamBox Wireless Speakers, alarm clock, honor bar with local touches, safe, yoga mat, bathroom amenities, and bathrobes. 

Standard Rooms are 250-300 sq ft and have courtyard views with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

 

Premier Rooms are 260-280 sq ft and have mountain views with either 1 king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds, sleeping maximum 4 people.

Fireplace Rooms are 260-280 sq ft and have courtyard views as well as an in-room fireplace, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 people.

The Copper Grouse (restaurant and bar serving classic farm-to-table fare). Morning coffee and organic tea service in the Living Room.

Nightly manager-hosted evening social hour from 5.00-6.00pm

On an earlier trip to Vermont a year or two ago I saw the outside of the Kimpton Taconic Hotel with its wide white front porch and rocking chairs and told my husband, "That's where I want to stay the next time we visit Vermont." And so we did. The front porch, the lobby area near the fireplace, and library area where they serve a complimentary glass of wine each night are the reasons I like this hotel. All the areas are warm, cozy, and inviting. They even have a selection of books to read and games to play. They also have a very high end (read expensive) restaurant which, unfortunately, we didn't try, but it is on our to do list for our next visit. The grounds were nicely landscaped and lit, and the staff was congenial. One disappointment is what looked like a cozy fire pit area on their website actually sits on the edge of the entrance to their parking lot. It's a nice fire pit set-up, but there is no privacy. Our room was comfortable and clean, but quite small. We had a room that said it had a Mountain View, but alas, no view, and unfortunately, no discernible mountain either. (A big hill in the distance behind buildings in the foreground is not a Mountain View.) This is why I didn't give the hotel five stars, but it won't prevent me from coming back. Read less

We hadn't been to the Taconic since before the Pandemic Panic, but as it was a special occasion we decided to just spend a night away. The property has had higher prices for the past few years but we managed to snag a member rate with IHG which wasn't too bad. The place is always clean and comfortable and the dog as ever stays free. The biggest selling point is the staff - always so helpful. They left us a lovely anniversary surprise in the room (as they have always done) and always go above and beyond. Their little shop is now a clothing boutique which was quite nice. The breakfast in the Copper Grouse was, as ever, delicious. My only criticism would be that they moved their social hour to the smaller library from the lobby and have replaced the hors d'oeuvres with popcorn. It was the first time we ever attended one of their social hours where no one was social (two other couples, older than we are, who wouldn't get off their phones). I think it was better when the roomier lobby was used. And the sliders or mini tacos or whatever were better than the popcorn. But that's a minor quibble - it's a very good hotel experience. We had a great first stay at the Kimpton Taconic Hotel. Our service was very attentive and the property was picture perfect. I have attached some photos for reference. We wish our stay was longer. Next time we will need to utilize the pool and maybe stay in one of the cottages?

Beautiful property- nice vibe. Staff was very helpful. Ann at the front desk was great. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The lobby sitting areas were cozy with great coffee in the mornings. Great restaurant too. And Jonathan, the valet was especially accommodating.
