Stowe Mountain Lodge

Stowe, Vermont

The hotel

This luxury lodge has definitely earned its bragging rights – New England’s only ski-in/ski-out lodge, it immerses you in mountain life from its location to its look. Dressed for the occasion in Vermont timber and stone, it has all the romance of an alpine cabin, but all the indulgences of a luxury lodge, including WiFi, a super-sized spa and wellness centre, boutiques, the fine artisan dining of Solstice Restaurant, and the casual bistro and microbrewery treats of Hourglass Lounge. For some, its spectacular setting’s best experienced from its outdoor pool and hot tubs, where you can lounge back and soak up views of Mount Mansfield. For others, it’s by getting out there – and Stowe Mountain Lodge’s Alpine Concierge® will help set you off on anything from snowshoe tours in search of frozen waterfalls to rounds of golf at Stowe Mountain Club.

I absolutely loved this resort! We stayed for a conference and everything was incredibly convenient. Our room was a very short distance from the meeting rooms. The hotel is literally just steps from the ski rental shop so I found everything about the layout very appealing. You have the choice to valet your skis at the rental shop or at the resort. The rooms are beautiful! There was a small electric fireplace which added a nice touch. When you enter the room, there's an area to hang any wet clothing and put your boots to dry. The room has a sink, coffee maker, small refrigerator, and some other items. Some things to consider are that all of the shops/coffee shops/bars/restaurants by the slopes close when the lifts close so the only thing to do in the evenings is hang out at the lodge or one of the restaurants within the lodge (which are phenomenal). I loved sitting by the large fireplace with a drink and could've done that each night. If this isn't appealing to you, you could take the bus into town which is another nice option because there are some great restaurants there as well (although all the shops close at 5). The bus is very convenient and has multiple areas you can stop and eat. It takes about 20-30 minutes from Stowe lodge to town on the transit bus. One mistake we made was that we booked Burlington taxi from the airport which was absolutely filthy. The concierge at Stowe later mentioned that you want to stay away far from that business and stick with Stoweflake. Read less

Love Stowe and this resort. Very family oriented. Wonderful service. If you are planning on skiing, this is the place to stay. Perfect ski valet for mountain access and the resort has everything you need if you dont want to leave the area. Stowe has wonderful restaurants and other things to do.

The buildings are beautiful inside and out, the view is incredible, the service is top notch, the food quality and food options are amazing, and the skiing is obviously world class. I can't think of a better winter destination on the east coast. Second to none.

We stayed four nights in mid March. The location is perfect for skiers; the lifts are just a very short walk away. The buildings are very nicely done and easy to navigate. The staff is lovely. I am not giving a 5 star review however for these reasons: no tea served during the morning complimentary coffee service in the main lobby (I was told I had to go over to the restaurant to get hot water each time); no simple and less expensive breakfast items served in the restaurant, so I ordered an expensive buffett just to get some simple eggs and toast; and only one outdoor hottub for regular guests like ourselves (the other hot tub appears to be reserved for club members and owners). We loved the fireplace and the convenience of the kitchenette. The entire room was beautiful and clean. We ate in a few of the on-site restaurants and enjoyed them all. We went ice skating, skiing, and had a truly memorable family vacation. Thanks for a fantastic stay! Read less
