Rooms were overpriced, reasonably clean but very dated. No open power outlets near the bed. How about replacing the 50 year old bedside lamps with ones that have an outlet and USB ports on the base? Also we were not told that room cleaning has to be requested. By the time we called in at 2 PM they said it was too late. We asked if we could at… Read more

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great location for exploring Stowe

Great property, though perhaps a bit dated. Location is extremely convenient in that it’s walkable with minutes to a couple good breweries and restaurants, and you can even trek into Stowe’s village high street pretty easily, if weather is cooperating. A modernization of the rooms would make this a really top notch resort!

Arrived on July 25th for a 3-day weekend with our grandchildren. Upon arrival we were greeted with an unfriendly face behind the desk. Never showed me a map of the hotel or of the surrounding attractions to start off. Just handed me the keys and told us the room number. He was obnoxious. Upon arrival of our room the carpets were filthy the mattresses were old and the toilet did not flush all the time. The air conditioning did not work properly. Went down to make an appointment for a massage and was told they were booked four to five weeks out. Whoever heard you couldn't get a massage at the hotel you're staying at. All the staff extremely unfriendly. The outdoor pool was an absolute disgrace with bugs hair Band-Aids all floating in the pool. No one vacuumed the pool in the morning. I actually screened the bugs out of the pool first thing in the morning so that my children did not have to float around and swallow this filth. I saw a woman come in later to the pool into the exact same thing I did screening the pool. Whoever heard of that? Extremely unsanitary. The mattresses in our room were extremely old and unbelievably uncomfortable. The pillows were fine. My 10-year-old grandson was stung by a hornet while swimming in the pool. Ruined his trip. I just can't overemphasize how unhelpful all of the staff was. From the front desk right out to the pool side bartender when no help. Now at checkout I was greeted with an unfriendly face again. I signed my paperwork because we charged to the room. I was given a copy of the bill and not once did she say to me thank you very much for choosing our hotel for your stay. I was handed the paperwork and she moved on immediately to the next person. I would highly recommend you find somewhere else to spend your hard earned money. I would never ever go back here. I have stayed at the Stoweflake several times in years past. Have not been there for at least 15 years. we rented a 3 bedroom Stoweflake Townhouse as we came with our kids, who are now adults. We had originally signed up for breakfast but upon arrival were told that they were not serving breakfast but just a complimentary continental breakfast. I completely understand, everywhere is so understaffed, it's chaotic. The townhouse was absolutely wonderful for our needs. It was spacious, very clean and remarkably well appointed in the kitchen. The mattresses were comfortable and it was very quiet at night. We didn't do any of the amenities as it was raining while we were there, and the main hotel was filled with kids from a LaCrosse Tournament. The front desk person was very helpful recommending some breakfast alternatives, he also recommended restaurant reservations which we fortunately had, as you could not get into any restaurant without one. So if you head to Stowe in the busy summer months, prepare in advance! Read less
