1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

New York, USA

The hotel

There’s more than a ‘nod to nature’ at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge – it’s eco-friendly to its very core, from your room’s organic bedding to the nature-inspired children’s activities, daily Lobby Farmstand, use of reclaimed barn wood, and local artisanal products at the picnic-style restaurant. Style doesn’t suffer for sustainability, with features like corrugated leather headboards, gritty blackened steel, crate-style slatted closets, and a pop-up beer garden all giving the hotel a cool and contemporary edge. And they haven’t sacrificed those urban hotel essentials either, so you get complimentary WiFi, the Bamford Haybarn Spa, and a free shuttle into Manhattan (in a Tesla electric vehicle naturally) – although you could just stroll over nearby Brooklyn Bridge instead. But it’s the social buzz and views that make this place special, with the best enjoyed while sipping handcrafted cocktails on the rooftop pool terrace.

Incredible hotel on so many levels. I'm an ex-hotel manager in downtown Boston and critique every aspect of my hotel visits. The entire front desk staff and bellman staff were all exceptionally friendly and asked about our stay each time we passed by. We had one mechanical issue with our sliding glass door and it was resolved quickly with one simple request (typically takes 3-4 requests elsewhere). The gym is typically sized but has great equipment and a personal trainer (Ashley), waiting to assist in a custom workout if so desired. The proximity to the subway and local restaurants is so convenient but if walking 0.3 mi is not your desire, hop in the complimentary Tesla at the front door. The hotel decor is exceptional on all levels. The interior landscape, the light fixtures, metal wrapped stairway, window drapes, and lobby furniture are so warming that you will find yourself wanting to just sit down and relax to take it all in. I assure you that you will NOT achieve this feeling at any other hotel. The room had views overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge, ferries, and downtown Manhattan. The filtered water in the room is downright brilliant and believe my wife has shared this one feature with 30 of her friends since checking out just yesterday. Suggestions: The super soft and cozy bathrobes were tucked on the bedside table shelves and honestly never saw them until 10 min before check out. I would suggest they go into the credenza, which is where my wife initially looked but came up empty. There seemed to be a bit of a disconnect with the front desk and the fitness center activities. The free HITT (high intensity interval training) was downright amazing on the 2nd floor of the hotel. @evanfitness_nyc had the best music and lifted our energy level for the entire day. After breaking a sweat, he trekked us outside to do stairs and a quick jog while overlooking the Hudson River before heading back inside. It doesn't get any better than that. I am grateful that someone came up with an entirely different themed hotel. We have already looked at another trip to 1-Hotel South Beach. Keep up the good work! Read less

Staff were amazing, friendly and helpful, room was gorgeous and view was great, and the rooftop bar may be the best view in New York!! What an amazing place, one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had.

Very cool spot but not without some serious issues. Noise definitely an issue - no soundproofing in ceiling nor any on hotel door to corridor making every step from upstairs and every yelp from the kids and the dog next door sound like they were in our room. Outside noise was also an issue; screaming and shouting below our room that at 2:00 am sounded like someone was being compromised in the park below. Earlier that evening, we’d had drinks and a lite bite at the Osprey before heading out to a concert. Bill paid, we headed to the rest room before catching a cab. On the descent downstairs to the hotels ‘public’ bathroom, there was an overwhelming sulphur smell. We all went into the bathroom with our hands over our noses and then realized the bathroom was gender neutral with stalls marked M and F and some with both. We found one stall that was marked M that we all used (we are all F) and then quickly went in our way. Out of I think 10 oversized stalls, only 4 were clear of waste stopping up the toilet. Disgusting. As I left, I told a man waiting outside that it was OK to go in because the stalls were marked M and F. Poor guy was freaked out. Before leaving the next day, I needed to use the bathroom while waiting for my car. Since over 15 hours had passed since I’d last used the hotel’s lobby bathroom, I figured it would have been cleaned from the night before. Nope. Same stench as I descended the stairs and same filth in the only bathroom accessible and available to hotel and restaurant patrons. Not acceptable by any standard. Read less
