It also rained but the staff was patient with our large group and catered to our every need! Thanks Anjan!! Read less

I stayed at this hotel for a conference and initially was quite pleased with the rooftop bar. There definitely were some drawbacks: the "pool" is more like a narrow wading track, my room was tiny (and the hall smelled like ganga the first night), and my bed was very hard with lumpy pillows, but for the price and location I thought I had gotten what my company had paid for. The real problem came at checkout. I was confronted with a bill for $91 for "residency fees" of over $22 a night. I had not been informed of this fee when I checked in. I was told, very rudely, that I had signed something to this effect but when I looked at what I signed, it essentially seemed like I was signing for incidentals, which I was careful not to rack up while I was there, and the "fee" was completely buried in fine print that I only saw once I knew to look for it. I was also told "incidentals" when I was checking in--no indication that this was a fee I was going to have to pay no matter what. I've since been doing some reading on SmarterTravel and apparently this is a racket many hotels are using to list at low rates on places like Expedia and then get back to their real rates with hidden fees. It was bad enough to have to deal with these deceptive practices, but the gentleman behind the counter was so rude and dismissive that I was shaking by the time I had finished the encounter. And apparently this is his usual mode of operation when any trouble arises, because he was equally rude to the poor German tourist after me who had not thought to book the airport shuttle 24 hours ahead (who would have?) and was brusquely told he should have known and he was basically out of luck. So yeah, not going back to this hotel again. Read less

We booked the room for the weekend to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday and during our stay she became my fiancee. because of the special occasion management gave us a nice upgrade. Unfortunately we experinced a brief blackout {the whole neighborhood} but the hotel was up and running quickly.

Fantastic vacation. The hotel is centrally located in Manhattan with exquisite views from the rooftop terrace. Good breakfast and friendly service by the frontdesk and the doormen. Nice and clean all over.
