Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia

Upper East Side, New York

The hotel

In a quiet corner of New York, but close enough to the sights not to have to bother hailing a yellow cab, Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia is a rare refuge from the Big Apple buzz. Hidden away on a tree-trimmed road on the Upper East Side, you can escape to the chic calm of your suite, where homely comforts include your own kitchen, and luxuries include grocery and breakfast deliveries. Downstairs, the Serenity Lounge’s complimentary Tea Bar has a bespoke blend laced with chamomile, citrus and vanilla designed to soothe you (and that ubiquitous New York ‘caw-fee’ to perk you back up). When you do fancy some Manhattan exuberance, just grab one of the free bikes and follow the hotel’s sightseeing app and you’ll soon find yourself in nearby Central Park, Museum Mile, or Bloomingdale’s.

This is our second time staying at The Affinia Gardens. The kitchen has gas stove, full size refrigerator, comfortable bed, nice location. Morton Williams market is on corner so groceries is just a quick walk. consider it a small apartment with hotel convenience.

It was another enjoyable stay during Antiques Week, which actually lasts almost three weeks, at the Gardens Suites. I have been staying here for several years each January and definitely feel like I am in a home away from home. Kris, Nigel, Mike, Sal and the entire staff are welcoming, accommodating and professional. The rooms are clean and well taken care of, and the recent renovations are quite nice. I recommend the Gardens Suites for anyone staying in the area for an extended visit, the kitchenette is a life saver. The exercise room is small but also clean and well kept and a good place to "work out" some of that NYC stress. Read less

I booked this place for a business trip since it was close to our conference venue. Normally, I’m a Hilton property guy for the points but this was truly a nice find. I saw the location, looked at the hotel’s website and checked the reviews. I was not disappointed. The rooms are spacious and the bed was comfortable. It also had a small kitchen w utensils, pots and pans. There was a small table w 4 chairs, an electric recliner and sofa, king bed, and well appointed bathroom. You could stay here for a few weeks or months and be totally comfortable like you were at home. It had plenty of closet space as well as a safe, iron and ironing board, and some cool lighting of which most had dimmer switches. Nice touch! My only issue was it seemed warm in the room although the thermostat said 62 degrees. I tried to switch it from heat to AC but the unit wouldn’t allow me. Fortunately, the windows actually open and I enjoyed the cool breeze and sounds of the city. The staff is really polite and courteous. Front staff and housekeeping employees were all super nice. A big shout-out to the tall slender employee who sported a nice hat while he worked. I didn’t catch his name but it sounded like he had a German accent. He was a sharp dresser and nice to chat with. I only wished I had gotten the opportunity to ask him of the name/location of the hat store where he bought it if it was in NYC as I’d like to visit the hat store on my next visit. The reviews by others give you a great idea of the high quality of the Garden Suites by Affinia. I’ve already recommended this hotel to a friend who is coming to the city with her mom in a few months. Staying here is the best and easiest decision in NYC. Read less

Conviniently located in a quiet area but close to 5th Av. Large, comfortable rooms with small kitchen and sitting room. We had complimentary coffee and some snacks every day. It was the second time we went to this hotel and we hope to come back soon!
