Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia

New York, USA

The hotel

In a quiet corner of New York, but close enough to the sights not to have to bother hailing a yellow cab, Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia is a rare refuge from the Big Apple buzz. Hidden away on a tree-trimmed road on the Upper East Side, you can escape to the chic calm of your suite, where homely comforts include your own kitchen, and luxuries include grocery and breakfast deliveries. Downstairs, the Serenity Lounge’s complimentary Tea Bar has a bespoke blend laced with chamomile, citrus and vanilla designed to soothe you (and that ubiquitous New York ‘caw-fee’ to perk you back up). When you do fancy some Manhattan exuberance, just grab one of the free bikes and follow the hotel’s sightseeing app and you’ll soon find yourself in nearby Central Park, Museum Mile, or Bloomingdale’s.

I found this hotel after almost being duped on VRBO and found a good price online. I read a few negative reviews and was a bit worried but figured we would give it a go. When we checked in, because we got here before available check in, they took all of our bags and held them wile we went and returned our rental car. We actually rented the vehicle from the airport, and they let us know that there was an Avis right down the road and that we most likely could return there. They actually called the location for me, found out I could return my vehicle a couple blocks away, and that saved us an hour and a half driving all the way to the airport and then having to ride the train back. Then, we got to our room and were BLOWN AWAY!!! We reserved a junior suite with a patio and it was huge! The patio was awesome, the kitchen is beautiful and the room is so spacious! We went to the grocery store to purchase eggs & toast for breakfast and the only negative is, they have pots and pans for cooking yet no utensils to cook with 😂 I’m so glad we stumbled on this hotel because it’s perfect! I did have a terrible flickering of lights in the bath room and was told it may be a loose bulb (which it was not) was annoying everytime the light went on. Room was clean and comfortable. Enjoyed having a full size refrigerator and the other amenties to cook a little something when needed. Down side was the price for the evening, because Affinia was recommended with a discount I canceled a previous booking at another hotel only to realize if there is any discount given it is hardly noticeable. Our room had 2 queen sized bed plus a queen sized sofa bed, all comfortable. Also had a fully functional kitchen. It was by far the largest hotel room we’ve ever stayed in in NYC. The building itself was slightly worn but we had no complaints. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Parking was no problem. It’s as if the previous reviewer and… Read more
