Ace Hotel New York

Midtown, New York

The hotel

Ace by name, ace by nature, you’re in for a bit of rock ‘n’ roll when you stay at this unique boutique hotel! Indeed, you’ll find a Gibson guitar in most rooms and a stack of blank sheet music should you fancy composing a song or two. Choose between a guest room with fabulous retro furniture included or a loft room, located on the corners of the building with beautiful bay windows, curvy sofas and palatial bathrooms. Take advantage of the lobby’s photobooth for some artful shots. For dining, the Breslin is hip and happening, taking its style cue from the 19th century with distressed leather upholstery and dark wood panelling. The bar looks like a room from a classic Park Avenue apartment and is perfect to lounge with a cocktail before a night on the town. To wake you up in the morning, grab a gourmet coffee from the Stumptown Coffee Roasters Cafe, head out the door and start all over again!

I have stayed here and at the Ace in LA consistently for several years, am back again now in Ny for 8 nights. Love the location, the ambiance, the staff, but cannot understand how this place with a lobby filled with techhies can offer so little in terms of something as simple as electrical outlets. My room has a guitar (meh, who cares), a 33 1/3 turntable + a batch of old records, (again, I don't care). What I DO care about is a place to plug in my computer - and in a double room, 2 computers, 2 ipads, 2 phones and in my case, a couple of plugs for camera batteries. Oh - and the tea pot is a nice touch, but where to plug it in??? One bed has a square outlet with one plug and that is the only accessible outlet in the room....for a place with a sense of the hip and groovy, this is a mystery. The ACE in LA has a strip of plugs on the desk, makes it really easy. I called the front desk tonight here in LA to see if they would send up an electrical strip as I have already unplugged the record player and TV, but have not heard back from them.I'm discouraged from staying here again, considering other options, but still have a sense of affection for this place. While there IS a safe to lock up my laptop, there is not a place to plug it in. Read less

Stay at Ace Hotel last May and had an awesome experience. Great rooms and staff and close to all the happenings in Manhattan. Just get a little noisy at night as there's always a party at the bar. They also have a gym in the basement for all who wants to do some weights or workout. Will surely be back!

I took my girlfriend to the city to celebrate her bday the weekend of 5 Jul 2019. I knew that staying at the ACE (I love to stay there) would’ve been the icing on the cake! Sure enough, we had a great time in the hotel lobby. The food was amazing and they always have nice music. There was a live DJ that night. We sure enjoyed the comfortable bed and linen after a party day/night. The room was quiet and clean. We enjoyed the unique industrial decorations . It’s a very trendy and unique hotel. More importantly it was clean and the staff was very attentive and friendly (as usual). I recommend the ACE NYC because it complements the visit to NYC. Once you spend the day in the city and then stay at the ACE you are truly topping it with a nice hotel experience as it has been when staying at the ACE. Thanks to the ACE staff for accommodating us again at the last minute and placing us in a room with the Empire State Bldg!!!! Read less

Really cool, unique rooms, very friendly and helpful staff from front desk to lobby to housekeeping, reasonable NYC rates. The gym was a good size and had a nice variety of your standard equipment. Great, central location, but also pretty quiet at night (at least on the 9th floor). Would definitely stay here again.

If you want to avoid the antiseptic same old same old chains and are looking for a hotel that is funky, cool and quirky with loads of atmosphere for your stay in New York, this is the hotel for you. As soon as you walk in through the entrance, its obvious you are in a place that prides itself for being different. This is reflected in the signage, decorations (see photos) and furniture. Its a fun place to stay at. Its also priced well, is in an interesting part of Manhattan and is near a number of train routes. The concierge/check-in staff are also super friendly and helpful. We had a double and the room was surprisingly large for New York. Our room was though showing its age. The furniture was heavily scuffed and run down (see photo). There were no complimentary tea or coffee making facilities and the bathroom was surprisingly quite light on soap. The quality of the room cleaning was also a hit and miss affair. Having said that, the Ace would still be on our list of hotels for our next visit. Read less
