The hotel

Ace by name, ace by nature, you’re in for a bit of rock ‘n’ roll when you stay at this unique boutique hotel! Indeed, you’ll find a Gibson guitar in most rooms and a stack of blank sheet music should you fancy composing a song or two. Choose between a guest room with fabulous retro furniture included or a loft room, located on the corners of the building with beautiful bay windows, curvy sofas and palatial bathrooms. Take advantage of the lobby’s photobooth for some artful shots. For dining, the Breslin is hip and happening, taking its style cue from the 19th century with distressed leather upholstery and dark wood panelling. The bar looks like a room from a classic Park Avenue apartment and is perfect to lounge with a cocktail before a night on the town. To wake you up in the morning, grab a gourmet coffee from the Stumptown Coffee Roasters Cafe, head out the door and start all over again!

My room had a 7 foot mural of a giant bird. That’s truly all you need to know. I would stay here again just for the bird mural. I told a girl that I painted it and she may have believed me. I told her I’m the bansky of hotels, just leaving bird murals in every room I sleep.

I got this on a name your own price deal. It was over New Year's and hotels were fairly pricey. I really wanted to like it. But as much as they try with the dark lighting, different music and unconventional decor and art, it's just not that nice. New York City hotel rooms have a reputation for being small. I've stayed at several others, and this room was SMALL. Could barely keep our luggage in the room and walk around the bed. The biggest issue though was the heat in our room went out, twice! And this was with 10 degree weather outdoors and poorly insulated windows. Our TV also lost the cable connection, then the guy working on it tried to say it was because I plugged something into a different HDMI port (I didn't, and had nothing with me I could have). They are really trying hard to be a cool hang out spot. But failing pretty hard at being a comfortable hotel. Read less

Great hotel so well situated and a perfect place to meet up with a friend for the weekend Hotel room was sizeable for NYC and well appointed with comfy beds. To be honest 5 stars could easily just go to the fact I’ve found a hotel room with a plug under a long mirror! Lighting also great as often US hotel rooms are dingy! Finally awesome bar and… Read more

Loved this place, truly a great experience. The room was fantastic because of the cleanliness and the whole aura of it. It just had a different vibe then what you normally associate with a hotel. Loved the vinyl records and turntable in the room and the style of the bathroom. The room had a rustic style to it and the proximity to the subway was so convenient. If you got bored in the room, you can easily go down to the bar for a few drinks or even chill in the lounge and meet new people. The hotel itself had a fantastic nightlife and if it's not up to your standards just head out the door, you're in NYC! We definitely recommend it to you and the family, our kids loved it. Read less

Hi after a few of the mixed reviews we weren't to sure about the Ace. But it turned out far better than expected. It started all well when the check in suggested we wait for an hour and could get a far better room, so we went and had a coffee at the bar which btw was great coffee. Reception was very helpful. The lobby is very crowded, but tbh we hardly used it. The location is excellent you hardly need to use the Subway, an easy walk to pretty much most places. We walked back from a NYE party in Times Square - NYE no issue at all. The room was far bigger than expected, an excellent bath room with traditional fittings really made it feel special, the bed was very comfortable plenty of storage space. WIFI was excellent. Two things for improvement - The room is a little dark and I suggest install of better lighting. The fridge was encased in a annoying steel box, no really need for that, the door was problematic and I suggest it would of been better in just a plain cabinet. Also had a meal in Breslin, which although pricey was very high quality. All in all a good stay. Read less
