DoubleTree by Hilton Metropolitan - New York City

Midtown, New York

The hotel

In the on-trend East Side, this is a Midtown must for those wanting to see the sights and shop the shops of NYC without having to wander far. In fact, it’s just blocks from the boutiques of Fifth Avenue and treats of Bloomingdale’s, and a stroll from guidebook favourites like Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and Radio City Music Hall. It may be surrounded by iconic architecture, but Doubletree by Hilton Metropolitan holds its own in the style stakes. Originally the brainchild of Art Deco architect Morris Lapidus, it’s been brought back to its former glory while being bolstered by modern traveller musts, like its Met Grill, where you can tuck into full stateside or Continental breakfasts, and its Met Bar, a trendy lounge with cocktails, oversized sports screens, and an evening menu of ‘Met Bar Bites’.

This hotel is nicely located and holds a well known name, yet the experience is average not to say disappointing. The bed was lumpy and the cleanliness leaves to be desired (see attached picture of the vent from the bathroom). Please note there is no individual refrigerator, which one would expect considering the (high) price you pay.… Read more

As a Hilton Honors Diamond Member I have never experience such horrible service at the DoubleTree Metropolitan New York City Hotel. Both the General Manager Joseph DeAngelo and Assistant General Manager Tammy Aron do not keep their words when it comes to honoring their refunds and Services. The night Manager is very unprofessional and the entire Management Hussle it’s customers and nickel and dime their customers for each and every client. The Staff is trained to not keep their words and believes in lying 🤥 to the public. No matter who’s to blame this horrible hotel 🏨 besides in placing the blame on the customers especially customers from London and anyone from the airline industry. Hussle and lying 🤥 is this Hotel 🏨’Mission and Motto. Turn the revenues and bring me the money 💰 no matter how horrible the service is. Everyone and Anyone who comes to this Hotel and is not treated correctly should post the truth and report this horrible Hotel 🏨 to New York Vity Consumer Affairs and to the Mayors office. Please remember the names of Joseph DeAngelo and Tammy Aron, they don’t return phone calls and if Tammy Aron happens to do call you it’s to talk smoke 💨 up ones behind. Read less

The beds are extremely small, a queen size to their standards is equivalent to a double bed, so if you are over 5’10”, don’t stay there, you wont fit in the beds. The mattress feels like you are sitting in a sack of sand, and it is old and uncomfortable (Definitely not to the Hilton’s standards). This is another take it or leave it kind of place, they don’t care. The staff is rude. I called the front desk manager (Ms. Thompson) to make a complaint and she walked right by me several times and continued to ignore my requests. All she said to me was “I am sorry, but my hands are tied etc etc.” Sorry isn’t cutting it for the price you pay. The breakfast was okay, but for a $25 “buffet”, its not worth it. I booked the room with points, and when I got there, the room was not to my standards, so I asked if they had another room and they said that I would have to PAY for the room. I told them if they could please redeposit the points in my account. They then forwarded me to customer service, which (moral of the story) did nothing and I received no reimbursement for my room. Very disappointed! Would not recommend this rat hole to anyone. Read less

This is the worst Hilton I have been to. I just can’t believe it is actually a Hilton. At check in we had to wait in a queue for check in which took a while. We were on the members floor which I think was the 14th floor. The carpets in the corridor were dirty. The room was alright. Pillow not comfortable at all. Had neck pain the following… Read more

We were on the members floor which I think was the 14th floor. The carpets in the corridor were dirty. The room was alright. Pillow not comfortable at all. Had neck pain the following day.The wardrobe door was hanging and on its last leg. Felt like it was going to fall off at some point. There is a safe which is good and a Starbucks on the ground floor. The only good thing was probably the location of the hotel. Price was good, hotel awful and wouldn’t come back here. Read less
