Image of the Tripadvisor rating WORST experience with any hotel I’ve ever had. Literally had to call front desk about a different problem every day.

Where to even start, oh my god. Where to even start, oh my god. Weeks prior to my trip, I had called this hotel to make sure I would be able to check in as most places in NYC require you to be 21 and I am a few months away from my 21st birthday. They said their minimum check in age was 18, so I booked plane tickets minutes after and flew from all the way from California just to be told that we had to have someone over 21 with us. The employee helping us at first was named Roy and he was a total jerk. He was so passive aggressive and petty with everything he said. All the managers I talked to also had an absurd amount of attitude. We waited hours to get the problem resolved and luckily had someone in the city that could check us in, otherwise they wouldn’t have let us stay. They told me that I was confused and that I didn’t call their hotel, even though I had and was showing them the receipt. After getting to our room, the floors were so dirty that my socks were black on the bottom after walking. The shower handle came off the first night and the hot sink handle also came off. We had regular water the first day and a half and then it became only hot, no matter what temperature we had the handle on. The employee that came to fix it 2 DAYS later told us that it was a common occurrence for rooms to only have boiling water. He fixed it but it was only temporary and the only hot water came back pretty quickly. Lastly, I needed a new fitted sheet, called down and asked and when I answered the door, I received a comforter. I laughed it off and called again and told them the mistake and he said he’s send a new one up. When my boyfriend went to answer the door this time, the guy handed him a stack of stuff and said “make sure this is what you need because I don’t want to come back.” And then walked away. It still wasn’t what I needed, it was another comforter and 2 regular sheets. I called again and the guy laughed at me and told me they were out of fitted sheets. Their customer service is horrible, the rooms are tiny and so dirty, not Marriott quality at all. I would never recommend staying here. Spend the extra money to stay somewhere nicer, that’s 100% what I’ll be doing for my next trip because I don’t like being constantly stressed on vacations. Read less

Some of the issue here are usual, minor annoyance or cosmetic things that as a regular traveler you just get over: - lingering smoke/pot smell, -banged up walls, -worn towels, ripped/worn bedding, -constant drip of the toilet -Room is small, but expected for NYC mid-town Some aren’t the fault of the hotel: drug addicts lining the street out front, which has gotten worse all over mid-town. Some of the problems are in design: -Desk but in a dark corner with no lamp and not near an outlet?; -the textured floors seem to trap dirt; -duvet is just between sheets so if you move in your sleep, you’ll end up with your face against the dirty duvet, because they likely don’t clean it Many of the problems are maintenance, which is frustratingly fixable: -dripping shower causing mold; -dripping shampoo dispenser creates slip hazard; -broken drawers in freezer; -kitchen supplies lacking - why was a given a huge strainer pot but not the pot it’s supposed to go in? Or any other pots/pans for the stove top? No utensils?; -no clock, was ripped off its mount; -elevators down - 1 for over a week, and then later another one for several days. At one point only 1 was working; -laundry room closed for at least a week; -phone didn’t work, not that it would matter because the phones constantly went unanswered; -internet kept cutting out. Some was staff/training: - Multiple times my room was entered despite the do not disturb; - staff not wearing masks; - not checking vax status when it’s policy; - restocking room was hit or miss - eg I’d get bath towels but no hand towels or wash clothes But the big problem seems to be customer service at the desk. Bringing problems to them, it was like they couldn’t be bothered. Perhaps if I worked in this horrible hotel and had to deal with all the complaints I’d be as awful at customer service. Another guest overhearing one of my interactions commented "This place sucks". Cassandra was the only desk clerk I encountered who at least pretended to care about the stay of the guests. She’s new. I’m sure this place will beat that out of her. I frequently travel for work, basically living out of hotels at times and I’ve been a loyal Marriott customer (Lifetime Silver status; and I only lost my Platinum status because the pandemic halted my work travel that last year). Rarely do I let one experience affect my loyalty. But someone higher up at corporate should give a look at this property. I’m sure they are short staffed because of the pandemic, but then limit the occupancy for a number the staff onsite can handle? On the plus side, the fridge was nearly a full size fridge and worked well. And despite being next to the elevator and in midtown, my room was relatively quiet. Read less

We are two aged 50 + women and were in the city for three nights for New York Comic Con. And no, we didn’t wear costumes :) We found this hotel perfectly located for the Javits Center and would stay again. We expected a small room, and it was actually larger than we had anticipated with two double beds, kitchenette, full sized fridge and freezer, micro and range top and a Mr Coffee single cup machine. There was a small closet, a safe, and a cupboard with 4 deep drawers inside. The air conditioning was excellent. Beds were comfortable and the furnishings were basic. Good sized bathroom with a large glass stall shower with overhead and hand held spray options was a plus. Service was friendly. Whatever we asked for, we promptly received, be it feather pillows, extra coffee pods, or more towels. Breakfast was good: hot options, cereals, danish, fresh fruit, etc, and the food areas were kept clean. It’s a NYC property in Hell’s Kitchen. That means busy, lots of traffic and sirens, and the occasional unsavory sights of the city. We felt safe and satisfied, and since we stayed mostly on the west side of Times Square, the location was perfect Read less

CLEAN ROOM, a bit small but this was expected. All staff were extremely friendly and personable. We requested a few things like ice and extra towels. They were accommodating and brought these right up to our room. AC works well, all elevators working. We were on the 34th floor with a great view!
Image of the Tripadvisor rating This hotel cannot possibly be a Marriott branded hotel! It is worse than a Days Inn or a truck stop motel!!

I have no idea how this hotel even qualifies as a Marriott branded hotel. It is worse than a Days Inn or Super 8. I have status with Marriott so I am typically able to check in early but extremely rarely, they don’t have rooms available early and in this case they didn’t, so no big deal. I have status with Marriott so I am typically able to check in early but extremely rarely, they don’t have rooms available early and in this case they didn’t, so no big deal. My daughter and I had a late lunch reservation uptown so we went to that. It was around 4:30 when we got back and they said our room was ready. I had paid more for a corner room and when I tapped the key on the door, the key worked but the door only opened an inch because the security chain was in place and we could hear a man talking inside the room. We looked at each other in disbelief and waited for a minute before rolling our bags back to the elevator. We went back downstairs and I waited my turn (for the third time) at the Front Desk and when it was my turn, I handed my key back and said “there’s someone in that room”. The hotel manager seemed very shocked and said it was unacceptable and told me that she was putting us in an upgraded room. From a size perspective, this room may be larger, but there is nothing upgraded about it. I stay in Marriott branded hotels almost weekly and this is not a hotel deserving of the Marriott brand (as I have known the brand to be for the past 10 years). This hotel is disgusting!!!! Our room has a terrible odour. I opened the windows on the first night trying to air it out but it didn’t work. Half of the lights and outlets don’t work. And the furniture is in worse condition than what you would find for sale at a Goodwill. Please see pictures. Beyond that, the room is dirty. Again, see pictures. My daughter and I both had our nails done the day before we came to New York and got gel polish on both our toes and fingers so there is no way that the nail clippings on the floor of the room could be ours. The carpet in the bedroom is so nasty that you cannot walk barefoot on it. It will turn the soles of your feet black. Every chair in the lobby is stained, as if someone peed in it.I have never called Marriott to complain about the condition of a hotel before, but tonight I did. I’ve requested towels and washcloths twice and have not received them. Our room has not been cleaned or made up. Even though we paid for three nights, we are checking out tonight as I don’t feel safe staying here. It is too unclean. This is not a Marriott hotel, there is no way. Read less
