Didn’t have the room I asked for, fire alarms going off all the time, unable to reach front desk, hideous entrance and outside of hotel, really scary, ugly lobby, cold, terrible floors in the rooms, no carpeting, awful awful experience.

I was concerned about booking this hotel because of poor reviews. Our stay was pleasant. The room was on the 22nd floor with nice city views. The doorman and check in woman were very nice but clearly they need more staff. Our late day check out as Marriot members was helpful. Located in not the best area I would still stay again. Read less

I had a recent one night stay at the Element Times Square from a Saturday into a Sunday. The mid shift front desk agent who checked us in was great, friendly, and was working hard as she was the only front desk agent on site. The security guard was also pleasant. My issue with the hotel is hotel management and the guests that were next to me as it was a connecting room. There was constant weed/marijuana smoke in our room for hours. The walls are very thin, the doors are too and not enough insulation since the weed smoke came through to our room. I was apprehensive about calling the hotel or Marriot corporate in case by doing so it would cause the guests next door to get upset and possibly harass us. Upon check out I let the morning front desk agent know and she didn’t seen urgent or overly concerned. She said she would make a note in my reservation but she didn’t as I had to call the hotel the following Monday to confirm if a report was made. I’m not sure if this is a frequent issue at the hotel that is encouraged by management. This would explain the front desk agent’s nonchalance. I don’t know if management disabled the smoke alarm system or the guests did. The ceilings are low so it’s possible that guests could be disabling the smoke alarm system. The marijuana smoke happened for 2-3 hours in the am hours. Even at checkout we were smelling cigarette and marijuana smoke. It’s not a bad place to stay during the pandemic as rates are a lot lower than they normally would be, and the rooms have a full sized fridge, a microwave, and a stovetop. If the lingering scent of cigarette/marijuana smoke would bother you, I would suggest you rethink about staying here despite the convenient amenities and location. Read less
