This was our second visit to this hotel, but the first visit was around four years ago so it has been some time. This Kimpton is waaaay on the west side of Manhattan, and for those readers not familiar with the island, know that there isn't an awful lot that is comfortably walkable from this location (other than Gotham West Market, the cruise terminal, or a bunch of car dealerships). However, since it's so close to the Hudson River, you do get the benefit of some lovely views. Nevertheless, quick cab rides will get you to all kinds of stuff. We prefer boutique hotels these days, and this is a nice one. The building is a former printing factory, and the newly renovated rooms are comfortably industrial chic. You'll notice a number of nods to the building's history as well as to its location near the piers of the Hudson. Now that Kimpton is part of IHG, my hubby's IHG Ambassador membership resulted in us getting a large, airy Junior Suite. This meant that we had huge windows, a king bed, a vanity area, a sitting and dining area, and a bathroom that you could do cartwheels in. There were lots of good things about this suite. For example, the fridge wasn't one of those where when you move an item they charge you, so I was able to get some of our own bottles of water, sports drinks, etc. in there. The bed was comfortable, the HVAC worked well, the lighting was nice, and the colors were calming (whites and tans with pops of navy and black). There were a few issues -- when we first arrived, inches from our room's door in the hallway was somebody's used wine glass with a napkin stuck in it. Also, when we pulled back the sheets on the bed, the fitted sheet had some stains on it, even though it clearly had been laundered. Of course we called down to the front desk and these things were rectified while we were out at dinner. Details matter to me, though, and I would have expected these oversights not to have happened. Speaking of details, while another thing I like about Kimptons and this place is that they have big glass containers of water with cucumbers, oranges, etc. in them so that you can sit in the lobby and have a little refreshing moment. We went to do this and found that both of the urns had barely any water in them (we managed to squeak out two small glasses). The front desk staff were maybe five feet away and we had to go and tell them about this. The containers were clear glass and all it would take is a glance over there once in a while to make sure they are filled by someone. To me, a hotel is truly excellent when amenities they offer are always available when they should be, without asking. Again, it's the details. The staff we encountered were pretty much all really nice to talk with. While not the hotel's fault, fyi, when we were there we were woken up very early by some very loud construction jackhammers at a property adjacent to the hotel. So if this is important to you and you are looking to book in the near future, you may want to inquire about the construction going on nearby. The rooftop lounge and the restaurant lounge (both I reviewed separately) are worthwhile visits. Read less

It’s extremely consistent and I’ve been happy every single time I’ve stayed. Im a runner so I love the Hudson path to run on each morning. It’s so close to Mid Town yet just off the beaten path on 11th to be much quieter and less congested. The one thing that I didn’t love this time was the expensive breakfast as everything is a la carte. The bill added up quick. With that said, I’m still rating five stars and will come back to stay at Ink48 again. Read less

This hotel is amazing! What makes it amazing is the team of people that work there. The team at the front desk are the nicest people I have ever met. Always smiling and no task to small for them to go above and beyond. Mr. Ivezaj and his team always greeted me with a smile and made sure I knew where I was headed before I left the doorway! They gave me landmarks to look for and were so pleasant, always with a kind word and a smile when I returned. The hotel itself was fantastic, and I’ve stayed in enough to know, this one has the best staff I’ve ever met in my life and the hotel was so beautiful! The rooms were very clean, the bed was so comfortable, and the view is fantastic! Thanks for making my trip to the city one I won’t forget!! Amazing team! Great place!!! Read less
