Park Hyatt New York

Midtown, New York

The hotel

Rocking a prime pitch in Midtown Manhattan, the super-sleek Park Hyatt New York overlooks Carnegie Hall and is mere moments from the escapism of Central Park. You don’t have to step outside for escapism though, with its 25th floor virtually taken over by Spa Nalai, the 24-hour fitness hub, and the chic lap pool. You don’t have to step outside to hear the sounds of neighbouring Carnegie Hall either, with the pool’s underwater speakers playing highlights from past performances. You can gaze out over the musical mecca while sipping cocktails in The Living Room, before heading to Bevy to taste its inventive American menu – or before one of the exclusive Masters of Food & Wine events. More like Manhattan apartments than hotel rooms, you’ll find every bell and whistle, from complimentary WiFi to a TV in the bathroom mirror.

Wine greeted us in the room, which was HUGE--2 sinks & soaking tub in bath; 2 beds & desk area in main room. Asked Maybelle Narcisco, Asst. director of operations, for real milk for coffee, & she delivered an entire fridge! I did have a complaint about restaurant service, & received a personal email apology from their manager. 23rd floor has big pool, hot tub, separate men & women's sauna, big top-line fitness center. Staff lovely--friendly & super-accommodating.After 30+yrs. of hit/miss with NYC hotels, I'll never stay anywhere else. Although it's very pricey, I stayed "free," using reward points. Read less

We just returned from a lovely stay at the Park Hyatt. My mom, young daughter and I were in town for two events at Lincoln Center and enjoyed the close proximity to the theater and loved being close to Central Park. We received excellent service from all staff members including the doormen, the front desk staff, the concierge, the in room dining team, and even engineering who helped us retrieve an earring that we dropped down the sink drain. Everyone really went out of their way. The room was beautiful and very comfortable, it had everything we wanted and more. The pool and gym are great. It was really a special weekend! Read less

Interesting to have 2 separate closets, but I was happy to have the iron and ironing board in room. The bathroom was large and luxurious, with a standalone bath tub. The separate shower with rain shower was nice and comfortable. The vanity/sink included LED lights which could be triggered by motion sensor, which was a nice touch especially in the middle of the night. Breakfast is pretty decent, although one of the servers has some attitude issues and could be friendlier. Read less

I was extremely delightful to hear business was taking me to NYC but I was shocked to find out we were staying at The Park Hyatt. As someone who spends hours at a time daydreaming over hotels and resorts, I had only heard about the wonders of a Park Hyatt Hotel. The excitement continued to build each day as we inched closer to the trip. Upon arriving, you’re greeted by these two beautiful doors and lobby on the ground floor. There’s a grand stair case leading to the meeting floor and also a beautiful hallway with contemporary artwork. The greeters direct you to the elevators where you’ll go to the main lobby/reception area. The elevators have this futuristic but subtle lighting. The design is beautiful and a nod to the attention to detail the property takes in creating the best experience for its guests. Checkin was smooth and I loved the room keycards. Each have a design from a local artist. The lobby is small but beautiful and impactful. The restaurant is also on the smaller side but tastefully designed and laid out. My room was spacious, well-designed and had a great view of Carnegie Hall. And when I say spacious, it seemed like a suite compared to the tiny rooms I’ve stayed in previously while in NYC. The bed was heavenly, the setup for the coffee, bar and snacks was clever. A chest of its own that’s doors could be closed so you aren’t tempted to eat or drink everything in sight. And the bathroom...again, full of space, the best Labo products, a rain shower and separate bathtub that I unfortunately never enjoyed. As you’re preparing for a night out or getting ready for a meeting, you can watch the TV in the mirror. A nice touch for someone that’s tight on time and wants to enjoy tv or for the person who wants to soak for hours while binging TV. Now what was I most excited about? The Nalai Spa. I read review after review. Smiling like a little school girl at the thought of swimming or enjoying the hot tub while enjoying the NYC skyline. As you enter the locker room, sweeping views (partially blocked by another skyscraper unfortunately) of Central Park welcome you. I wish there was seating right at the entrance of the locker room because I would have sat with a warm rob and stared out the window for hours. However, this is also the area where they have a few amenities like a hair dryer and lady products so you can technically stand there for a bit. Again, the locker room is spacious (truly a rarity in this city) and have two to three different shower rooms. Definitely grab the largest one if you can. Another heavenly shower! I didn’t enjoy the pool but I definitely closed my eyes and meditated in the whirlpool for 20 minutes. It has a reclined design feature that is great for relaxing. The pool area has plenty of seating so you can grab a book and space-out while others enjoy the pool, whirlpool or sauna room. The wait and anticipation was well worth it! The room service was pretty good. My steak was cooked too long but the other dishes were great. The wine selection was a-grade. I grabbed breakfast at the restaurant. The staff was extremely attentive and the food was great. My rating..definitely a five star property. Very attentive staff that greeted me by name every chance they could get. The luxury amenities did not disappoint and the views around every corner made me appreciate NY even more for the beautiful city that it is. This hotel didn’t seem to cater more to one type of traveler so I’d recommend it to anyone looking for one of the best properties in the city. And did I mention it’s a stone’s throw away from everything. It was a quick 24 hour trip but one I’ll never forget! Read less

The concierge staff were always talking amongst themselves when you walked by and never acknowledged you, like a real 5 star luxury hotel staff would. Even the doormen seemed very unapproachable, which is not very welcoming as the first face you are greeted at entrance. The only staff that were pleasant and professional were the housekeepers. Food wasn’t great. I’ve tried room service which they notified me 15mins after the expected arrival time that my order would be delayed another 40mins! Had to cancel order because we had a play to go to hungry- and was offered no compensation for the inconvenience. Gave room service another try a different day and was not happy with it either. The hotel restaurant was a bit better, the bar was descent. Overall not worth it. Much better hotels nearby. Read less
