Park Hyatt New York

Midtown, New York

The hotel

Rocking a prime pitch in Midtown Manhattan, the super-sleek Park Hyatt New York overlooks Carnegie Hall and is mere moments from the escapism of Central Park. You don’t have to step outside for escapism though, with its 25th floor virtually taken over by Spa Nalai, the 24-hour fitness hub, and the chic lap pool. You don’t have to step outside to hear the sounds of neighbouring Carnegie Hall either, with the pool’s underwater speakers playing highlights from past performances. You can gaze out over the musical mecca while sipping cocktails in The Living Room, before heading to Bevy to taste its inventive American menu – or before one of the exclusive Masters of Food & Wine events. More like Manhattan apartments than hotel rooms, you’ll find every bell and whistle, from complimentary WiFi to a TV in the bathroom mirror.

We stayed at this property for our anniversary over NYE 2017 and it was magical! Service was fantastic, room was amazing; it became the hotel to which we compare all other hotels to. Our stay in February 2020 was much less impressive. As Globalists, we were automatically assigned a premium non-suite room when there were plenty of standard suites available. I wonder: do the staff at the hotel think I am unaware of my Globalist benefits? Had to request a standard suite which is always awkward. Our room was very unimpressive and lacked natural sunlight. There was a hole in the ceiling and the windows were dirty. There was no welcome note or amenity offered from the staff. We were quite disappointed and expected more from the property. One thing we remember from our original stay in 2017 was how incredible the breakfast was, which was part of the reason we chose to come back. It was everything we imagined. We were very pleased to see that F&B has stayed at the same standard as set years ago. I would encourage other Globalists to consider the Andaz 5th Avenue when making their decision to stay in NYC. Great location, really good Japanese breakfast. Workout room was spacious and had Peloton. Room was medium sized. Fantastic shower room with room for two. Valet service for car was quick as long as you received your car on 58th St. 57th St delivery took an extra 30 minutes.

We've experienced better hospitality from hotels with less stars. We were not readily greeted upon arrival, and did not figure out that the lobby was upstairs until we asked someone at the podium. We were both carrying heavy bags in both arms, in addition to a leashed puppy, yet no one offered to help. They did offer us a bed and dog bowl upon check-in, which was appreciated. Convenient location right below Central Park. Times Square is in walking distance, along with some great restaurants. Overall it was an average stay, doesn't feel worth the price paid. Read less

I came for a special occasion but if I come back for business or another vacation I will put this at the top of my list of places to stay! The only reason I wouldn't pick here is if I needed to be on the other side of Manhattan. If you want to be near Central Park, Broadway, and/or Times Square then this is the place tk stay! Read less
