The hotel

You’ve seen them do it in the movies, but now you can experience New York living for yourself – walking below the bulb-lit canopy to enter your apartment block, a friendly nod from the front desk, before you hop into the elevator and ride up to your pied-a-terre. But this is New York living on a different scale – as Radio City Apartments is right in Midtown Manhattan, just moments from its namesake, Radio City Music Hall. It comes with all those home comforts you’d expect if you lived here, like complimentary WiFi and a kitchenette with a microwave, hob, fridge, and coffee maker – and those come as standard whether you’re picking a two bedroom pad or a studio. And the location’s the same for every apartment too – just steps from sights like Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and Fifth Avenue.

If you are looking for an ultra modern chrome and glass apartment, then Radio City is not for you. If you want convenient location, comfort and cleanliness, then read on. We chose a one bedroom apartment as opposed to a double room for the extra space and seating area, which it offered. We didn't really need the kitchen, but the fridge, kettle, microwave, china, glass and cutlery were very useful. The bedroom and lounge were both good size. The decor and colour scheme in the apartment is very dated and tired looking, and even the cream coloured sheets look a bit worn BUT everything was scrupulously clean. It was bitterly cold in New York, and we appreciated the central heating, which at first did not seem to be working, but was switched on as soon as we mentioned it to reception. They even gave us an electric heater to use until the room warmed up. The apartments are just a step away from 8th Avenue, and the subway is around the corner at 49th, very convenient for everything. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes etc. in the area. We would definitely stay here again. Read less

3 nights. Small, but this is NYC size. The kitchenette was ideal. Full size cooker and fridge. Spotless and reasonably equipped. Quirky but charming building. Only issue was double bed against a wall. Not great in the middle of the night for the 'wall' one. Would certainly recommend, and as everyone says it is top for location. Good grocery store… Read more

Good grocery store one block away. It was NYC pricey, so take a few of your own fixings- sugar, seasonings etc if you intend to do even minimal cooking. Read less

We had a walk-in shower (1 guest had knee issues) as requested. Beds were very comfortable. Easy to use TV's. Free internet. Thanks to the housekeeping staff! They came in every day and did a heavy clean, left towels and extra lotions. Furniture was a bit dated (but comfortable). Only complaint was the heater- very very loud and not able to control. But since it was 20 degrees outside I'd rather have noise then freeze. Plenty of restaurants, food trucks, gift shops right outside the front door. Only steps from a few Broadway Theaters and Times Square. Read less
