I stay because of the location to the businesses I visit. But the hotel is dark and the rooms really lacking. The front desk staff is marginal and not helpful especially when it comes to a billing issue. The front desk staff is marginal and not helpful especially when it comes to a billing issue. The doormen however are great and help with baggage and getting cabs and ubers to the right spot for picking up. Marriott should be ashamed of this property in their Renaissance brand. But overall in New York City, unless it is the JW or the Ritz, most Marriott properties have a lot of issues. Hilton/Hyatt or independent hotels may be better choices for a more pleasant stay. Unfortunately the hotel despite a good liaison and a good brand is very below par , old rooms, inadequate facilities in the room, old furniture and a bathroom from the 70s. Very off putting !! Oh... and we have booked a "superior" room.

This is my wife's favorite hotel in NYC and is quickly becoming mine. We have stayed here 4 times in the past 2 years and the service is exceptional. I estimate that I have spent approximately 350 nights in hotels in my life and Raymond at the Front Desk is by far the best/nicest employee I have ever encountered (everyone at the front desk and bell staff were great!). The rooms with terraces are awesome. We stayed in 1505 and Raymond arranged for the fold-out bed to be made up as well as bringing in an extra bed when we had an extra child in the room. I can't say enough about this hotel and the staff. Read less

I travel quite a bit for business but I have never received such gracious service. Raymond and Serge were manning the front desk and promptly offered me a cold bottle of water on a very hot summer day. They were terrific in recommending dining places in the area and genuinely made me feel at home. The hotel is clean, the location great, the bed… Read more

Disappointed to be told on check in the roof top bar is no longer there. Just 2 tables and a few chairs. Sad really as the weather was great and an evening on the roof would have been nice. You can take your own food and drink up and hope for s seat. On check out we had a 2.5 hour wait for our transfer and asked for the tv to be on but they said it can’t be turned on. Almost a reception close down for July 4th. Service wasn’t there. Felt let down. We wanted to watch the England v Sweden ladies football. Read less
