Salisbury

Midtown, New York

The hotel

NYC rooms are often rather, shall we say, 'compact'. However, the Salisbury's rooms are substantially bigger, as they used to be apartments! For a supplement, you can upgrade to a huge suite with 2 double beds and separate living room with sleeper sofa. The location is wonderfully central - how about a jog in the park or a bit of shopping down 5th Avenue?

Rooms are a good size if you have a small child or two. Due to specials the hotel can be very busy but its still quiet when in your room getting some sleep. Short two block walk to Central Park or a short walk to Times Square. Subway station on the corner that can take you to Soho and 911 memorial site. Rooms are older but gives you a sense of how classy this hotel wouldve been in earlier times. Can recommend staying here!! Read less

The hotel itself is very old with minimal amenities Pros - Great location near several metro stations, safe in room and friendly staff. Cons- Two electrical outlets, old style bathroom, slow elevators, no refrigerator's in the rooms and ice machine on only one floor...the lobby.

I honestly think you are paying for the location. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel is very old and outdated. If you just want the basics amenities, stay here. Our room was clean and we had running water. The water from the tap though came out cloudy, so I didn’t drink it. No free WiFi either. This place is NOT fancy at all,… Read more

This place is NOT fancy at all, when you walk down the street you easily pass by other hotels with nicer lobbies. It’s a decent hotel. We didn’t hang out in the room long because we were out exploring the city. Read less

Arrived for 1 night with my wife and daughter. Staff was extremely friendly and nice. However, they can't help with the condition of the room we had. The hotel is in need of serious updating. Our room had peeling paint, dirty carpets and floors, old, dated furniture. The bathroom was from the 70's and so we're the fixtures. Just not updated.… Read more

The room needs a renovation. Very old and dated. Our room though was too small. We had two twin beds for four people and the sheets had mysterious stains on them. They only gave us 2 bath towels each day and we got back so late each night didn't have time to mention it to them. It does have a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. There's a bodega nearby to buy breakfast and grocery store across the street for breakfast items. Read less
