Salisbury

Midtown, New York

The hotel

NYC rooms are often rather, shall we say, 'compact'. However, the Salisbury's rooms are substantially bigger, as they used to be apartments! For a supplement, you can upgrade to a huge suite with 2 double beds and separate living room with sleeper sofa. The location is wonderfully central - how about a jog in the park or a bit of shopping down 5th Avenue?

Lovely hotel, clean, comfortable. A bit dated but perfectly fine, larger than normal rooms for NYC. Kitchenette was very handy. Great location for Carnegie Hall, Central Park. Friendly staff. Would stay again.

Perhaps the location is the only thing that was good about this hotel The rooms are very dated and you will see from photos that it was actually very dirty, urine over the back of the toilet wall, leaking tap, filthy vents that have not been cleaned ever by the look of them. The room we had was big but otherwise horrible. The staff were very unprofessional in my view - the check in staff sat chatting and when I enquired if the wi fi had to be paid for - which in 2019 is unbelievable- the answer was " this hotel has never had free wi fi..... anything else I can help you with?" What a terrible service. HOWEVER the real and most unbelievable thing was the bell boy/concierge who when we asked if we could leave bags with him actually said this to me " you can leave a tip however much you want ....its up to you... im just telling you". I said to him that the fact he said that was disgraceful and he just shook his shoulders. His name is Mido. I then felt uncomfortable leaving the luggage. When we said we had a taxi he must have some deal with local cab drivers because he got very annoyed. He is the rudest most unprofessional hotel concierge I have ever come across. Also the room has a heater that you cannot turn off no matter what!! Read less

Clean quite offers everything someone neads for an easy and affordable stay in NY! The only thing you have to keep in mind: no free internet! Other than that lobby is small but quite and comfortable! The rooms are airy clean wring good space between the beds and that walking closet is the best

Pros: great midtown location, friendly staff, clean, quiet room, comfortable bed, low price for NYC. Cons: sorely in need of renovation - 1980s era bathroom, chipped paint, etc. If you’re looking for luxury - or even something like a Hampton Inn - this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for a clean bed for a good price in a good location, this is… Read more

Visited New York for a 4 day break and chose this hotel based on the reviews. The lobby was dingy and dirty. The reception staff were surly and abrupt. There was only one lift working which was extremely slow. We had the standard twin room. It hadn’t been properly cleaned. Someone’s dirty hat was left in the room on a chair. The daily clean was hit and miss. The bathroom had very slow draining drains and leaky toilet, black mould, peeling paint and rotting wood on the doors and units, Damp on the bedroom walls I have no idea what the other accommodations in this establishment is like but I would definitely avoid this place in the future. It’s very old tired and in dire need of a makeover and some better trained staff in customer service. Overpriced for what is offered compared to nearby alternatives. Yes the room was spacious but that’s about it! Very disappointing. Read less
