Salisbury

Midtown, New York

The hotel

NYC rooms are often rather, shall we say, 'compact'. However, the Salisbury's rooms are substantially bigger, as they used to be apartments! For a supplement, you can upgrade to a huge suite with 2 double beds and separate living room with sleeper sofa. The location is wonderfully central - how about a jog in the park or a bit of shopping down 5th Avenue?

Loved the location of this hotel, near Central Park and about 14 blocks to Times Square. I thought we were getting a special 40%-off "deal" but it appears that's the regular price. Room was large but very rundown: window blinds lacked the pull; the door chain was missing; the carpets were worn and not very clean (nor was the bathroom). Safe had… Read more

Room was large but very rundown: window blinds lacked the pull; the door chain was missing; the carpets were worn and not very clean (nor was the bathroom). Safe had an actual key, not a keypad, which was clunky to carry. Wifi was not free as indicated on website, bathroom amenities were practically non-existent. However, the bed was comfortable, the window a/c worked, and the closet had lots of good room to use. If you're only in the room to sleep, and not overly concerned about security, this would be a good place to stay. Read less

Excellent value...reasonably priced! Huge room (had small bathroom/bedroom/very large "Livingroom" with alcove dinette table, and microwave/frig/coffee/safe. Hotel staff was friendly/helpful. No foods; however, a Deli is a few doors down as is Angelo's 57 (Italian restuarant). There is a downside but not a deal killer. The hotel is a prime… Read more

As indicated by others, the rooms badly show that they are past their prime. If you need to be in that part of town and want a large accomodation at a reasonable price, then ignore the wear & tear appearance. FYI, make your reservation well in advance because they hotel does sell out!!!!! Read less

Dirty, dated, musty, staff who don't seem to care, and incredible noise from the street. I will not be staying here again, even though the price and the location are good. Everything about this place screams 'let's do the bare minimum for our guests, and hope that the value of the building goes way up, and that's how we'll make our money"

I booked this for a surprise for my daughter who came to visit last minute. The room was big and clean. I called ahead with a medical concern, and they addressed the need ahead for her. The staff was helpful too! While not NY posh design, the older charming set up was fine.

Very worn hotel, with no usable amenities: no water bottles, no gym, no business lounge (it is stated they have but the staff confirmed they lack all these things nowadays). I got the very big room, a suite, with a kitchenette, tv-room and a bedroom with 2 queen beds. Nice size, but older than... AC in the window poorly mounted so noise from the… Read more

I got the very big room, a suite, with a kitchenette, tv-room and a bedroom with 2 queen beds. Nice size, but older than... AC in the window poorly mounted so noise from the street comes in. I was on 11th floor. No free wifi, in descriptions that might not be clearly stated. All in all: I won’t come back again. Read less
