Seton Hotel

Midtown, New York

The hotel

Transformed from an old Manhattan apartment block, the Seton Hotel has kept its ‘privately owned feel’ with one-of-a-kind rooms, and an indulgent shared lounge with comfy seating and a 50” TV. Jewel-inspired colours, modern materials, and Art Deco accents that reflect the nearby Chrysler Building, give it a boutique edge at odds with its favourable price tag. Its price defies the extras too, like complimentary WiFi; and the prime location, just 2 blocks from Grand Central Station. If you’re in town for sightseeing, it’s also just a stroll from the Empire State Building and Bryant Park, and if you’re visiting for the shops, it’s within walking distance of Macy’s and Fifth Avenue.

Standard hotel. 'large' rooms for NY standards (if you pay for the larger room with your own bathroom that is). Very clean and hygienic! Good location on the east side of town near 2nd avenue and near Grand Central. DOWNSIDE: The windows do not block noise AT ALL. Lots of traffic noise and the unavoidable sirens keep you from sleeping. Also our… Read more

Good location on the east side of town near 2nd avenue and near Grand Central. DOWNSIDE: The windows do not block noise AT ALL. Lots of traffic noise and the unavoidable sirens keep you from sleeping. Also our room was located next to a storage room, which caused a lot of noise. The cleaners brushing and rummaging woke us up several times at 3am!! Also still no idea how the heating works. At times it was chilly in our room (again: the windows don't stop noise or heath) Free coffee and tea from 6am till 11am. Free luggage storage on the last day. All in all a good hotel to stay at when visiting NYC! Read less

Not bad if you are on a tight budget. I got a good deal on Expedia but missed the part about a shared bathroom. I’ve never been to a hotel with a shared bathroom - I’m not a fan but it was clean. The bed was a single and room obviously very small. The upside was the staff was nice and room seemed clean. Location is good for tourists but… Read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights here at the Seton. We had a room with the shared bathroom option which was never a problem. Our room was super clean and offered all things to make our stay very comfortable plus a lot of little extras like makeup remover cloths, tissues, bathrobes, pack rack etc. Off the foyer there's a very nice sitting room… Read more

Our room was super clean and offered all things to make our stay very comfortable plus a lot of little extras like makeup remover cloths, tissues, bathrobes, pack rack etc. Off the foyer there's a very nice sitting room and coffee is available. It was an easy walk to Grand Central Station, Times Square, Empire State building and lots of other touristy things. Lots of bars and a nice variety of restaurants are very close by. There is a lift and free wifi in the rooms. Our compliments to the housemaids who were exemplary .........the best by far in our 9 weeks of travel. Arlene the night reception lady was a breath of fresh air. We sincerely hope to return. Read less

This hotel is in a very good location if you want to see all the tourist attractions like Times Sq & Rockafella centre. The room itself was very small but very clean & tidy. The double bed was a very small double but comfortable. We had a room with the bathroom done the hall & I doubt if I’d do that again as it seemed like there was a lot of people using it. The room was cleaned every day & new towels & bed made. The staff were great especially Brittany, nothing was too much trouble & she gave us great recommendations for where to eat ect. WiFi was good in the room and there was free tea & coffee from 6-11 I would stay here again but take a room with a bathroom. Read less
