Seton Hotel

Midtown, New York

The hotel

Transformed from an old Manhattan apartment block, the Seton Hotel has kept its ‘privately owned feel’ with one-of-a-kind rooms, and an indulgent shared lounge with comfy seating and a 50” TV. Jewel-inspired colours, modern materials, and Art Deco accents that reflect the nearby Chrysler Building, give it a boutique edge at odds with its favourable price tag. Its price defies the extras too, like complimentary WiFi; and the prime location, just 2 blocks from Grand Central Station. If you’re in town for sightseeing, it’s also just a stroll from the Empire State Building and Bryant Park, and if you’re visiting for the shops, it’s within walking distance of Macy’s and Fifth Avenue.

Central location with grand central station a short walk away for transport around the city Waited on by great people who had so much knowledge about the city & things to do Loved this spot as it was away from the huddle & huddle of New York life

We stayed here mid December and were looking forward mainly to the location, having previously stayed on the upper west it was good to have some of the main locations nearby. You're within a few minutes walk of Grand Central station so that should give you an idea of roughly where you are, nowhere is too difficult to get to either on foot or from the station itself. The accomodation we knew prior to going would probably fall under the budget category however if you're going into Manhattan to spend time sightseeing then the amount of time spent in the room should be minimal. So that being said we were just happy to have a hotel that was clean and gave us a comfortable base for our exploring and Seton certainly did. The room was well kept and cleaned daily, we opted for a room with a private bathroom (the only thing we would always look to have) and whilst being on the small side it was perfectly adequate. The staff on reception were always very welcoming with the exception of one young lady but we encountered at least another 4/5 people who couldn't help us enough. Would have absolutely no trouble with going back to the Seton, in fact i imagine we will if we ever visit the city again - the only thing i would say is providing you aren't going expecting luxury you'll be fine. It does exactly what it needs to and for the price you pay, and the location you are in you really can't fault it. Read less

Our new favorite and only hotel for us. Love it! Read less

There are safety deposit boxes you can use in the main reception which was a bonus. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is the room heating was so hot at night we needed the air con on at all times, this was incredibly noisy. We also had a shared bathroom next to our room (we paid extra for our own bathroom), however the shared bathroom could be noisy at times overnight. All in all a very good hotel, thank you. Read less

Nervous about the communal bathrooms—this hotel was beautifully appointed, super friendly, old-school boutique charm! Highest ceilings Ive ever had in NYC. Soft bed, clean room, quiet, warm, will totally stay again if I need a room in midtown! 5 min walk to Grand Central.
