Shelburne Hotel & Suites by Affinia

Midtown, New York

The hotel

If you crave the Manhattan nights you’ve seen in the sit-coms, Shelburne NYC’s got it covered. Just head straight upstairs to Rare View: the archetypal summertime rooftop bar, its 5,000 square feet hold a chilled cocktail party vibe, five unique ‘rooms’ including the picnic patch and champagne garden, and 360 degree views taking in sights like the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building. Back downstairs, Rare Bar & Grill serves up gourmet burgers with twists like tequila-soaked beef, aged whisky slaw, or lobster tail. If you can bear to leave this infinitely trendy hotel, you’ll find you’re in a similarly trendy neighbourhood. But still be sure to keep in mind the complimentary evening wine hour.

Just a delightful hotel. Great location and helpful staff. Lovely wine hour in the lobby. Wonderful rooms. I only downgraded ‘excellent‘ to ‘very good’ because of the ridiculous ‘Facility Fee’. Please charge what you feel the room is worth—don’t nickel and dime me for internet (really, in this day and age like charging for electricity or running… Read more

We were a family staying for 3-nights in the Shellbrune NYC hotel. The staff is very friendly, rooms is nice and clean, beds are comfortable. It is very nice of them to give you $10 credit every day to buy things at the in-house kiosk. They have a great roof-top but it is very pity that when we stayed at the hotel, it was not active and very dirty1

Our experience in the hotel was great. We booked one bedroom suite and we got an upgrade to a two bedroom. All details of the room were perfect! I will keep considering this hotel as my first reference when I travel to NY.

The room was a good size and our room had recently been renovated, we had a good view of Empire State Building from the room. The bathroom was huge, though the design of the shower area allowed water to go everywhere, but not that much of a big deal, housecleaning was ok too.. not fantastic. Reception abd customer service was good and very helpful. Overall a nice, convenient hotel Read less

Nice hotel close to Grand Central. Happy hour everyday in the evening is a treat. Recommended. Grab and go items rather overpriced. We stayed here before and find it very convenient. Ask for a studio suite facing East River.
