Shelburne Hotel & Suites by Affinia

Midtown, New York

The hotel

If you crave the Manhattan nights you’ve seen in the sit-coms, Shelburne NYC’s got it covered. Just head straight upstairs to Rare View: the archetypal summertime rooftop bar, its 5,000 square feet hold a chilled cocktail party vibe, five unique ‘rooms’ including the picnic patch and champagne garden, and 360 degree views taking in sights like the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building. Back downstairs, Rare Bar & Grill serves up gourmet burgers with twists like tequila-soaked beef, aged whisky slaw, or lobster tail. If you can bear to leave this infinitely trendy hotel, you’ll find you’re in a similarly trendy neighbourhood. But still be sure to keep in mind the complimentary evening wine hour.

My stay was outstanding all around during tough times with covid19. The staff overdelivered on several occasions - super friendly and helpful The rooms were clean, modern, and a good size. The common areas were clean and quite large. The location was perfect. Highly recommend.

The hotel is in a perfect location just a short walk from Grand Central Station connecting you to everywhere. The rooms are very quiet and very comfortable with a great bar/restaurant just off reception. Thoroughly recommend this hotel

From the friendliness of the staff, to cleanliness of rooms to a great price there is no better hotel to stay with in Manhattan. Close to Grand Central Station and easy to navigate to all NYC has to offer- highly recommend.

I have stayed at this hotel many times when in New York for business and always had a pleasant experience...but just had to mention some exceptional service. I got up early and walked to a nearby Starbucks, did my morning reading on my iPad, and walked a few blocks back to the hotel. When I got to my room, I realized my iPad pencil was missing...and retraced my steps in the hotel, checked with the front desk and housekeeping to see if I had dropped it. After I checked out and was ready to walk to my meeting, the bellman, George, saw me looking around and asked what I had lost. I told him I must have dropped the iPad pencil...and he said “let’s go,” and started the walk along East 37th from Lexington to Park Place. And he found my iPad pencil on the sidewalk not far from Park Place! Just an unbelievable act of kindness, generosity and outstanding service! George went above and beyond! Simply amazing! Read less
