The hotel

Thanks to a multi-million dollar makeover The Benjamin Hotel in Midtown Manhattan is looking hotter than ever and if you want to dive into a world of boutique luxury then right here is where you rip off the covers and get involved. The gourmet snack boxes alone will have you hungry for more and if you want a real taste of classic New York City style then check out The National Bar & Dining Rooms that's got grand café chic down to a tea. As The Benjamin Hotel stretches to almost 30 storeys there's no chance of getting lost in the city and as major attractions, such as the MET, the Empire State Building and Madison Avenue, are all just a few blocks away this is an excellent base to experience the best of the Big Apple. Finally, guest rooms have every box ticked with kitchenettes and mini-fridges ensuring you can definitely have your cake and eat it.

Each and every staff member went above and beyond from Merrill, who booked our reservation, to Taju the doorman, to the gentleman at the front desk who gave us a warm welcome and facilitated an early check in after a long red-eye. We stayed here nearly a week and appreciated the location and the spacious rooms. Our suite was well appointed with a lovely terrace. Everything was clean and the bed was super comfortable. The gym was also nice, although due to Covid only 2 people could use it at any one time. The only complaint we had was that the showerhead was placed very low on the wall (maybe 5 feet high) but it wasn't that big a deal, especially because there was plenty of hot water. They did offer daily housekeeping for our room and the house keepers were friendly and helpful. I will definitely book here again when I return to Manhattan. Read less

This is a tough review for me to write, because I truly enjoyed the time I stayed at the hotel. However, I will never stay at this hotel again. I tried booking a stay for my brother and his girlfriend- it was same day, but I wanted to pay for their stay as a anniversary present. I know all I typically need to do is fill out a CC Authorization Form. Well, after talking to two people (reservations and front desk), they apparently did not want to take my money. I was told no to booking a hotel room because the CC authorization forms have to be sent in 48 hours in advance. I was told to try booking through an app like "Hotel Tonight" which is a loss in money for the hotel. It was unbelievable- I was trying to book a SUITE and pay the hotel price plus taxes and fees and they wanted to do nothing to help. To be treated like that just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I understand time in Covid have been stressful for the hospitality industry. This hotel has had great deals going, but I would also imagine that means they need business. So this was very disappointing. I hope the hotel changes this policy so they don't lose out on more business. I fortunately found another great hotel who was able to take my reservation and same day CC Authorization Form. Read less

This hotel offers good value. But perhaps we expected more. With hotels at historic low prices and occupation due to the covid pandemic, one can choose from a list of many great hotels without remorse. The hotels overall maintanance should be improved. But still, this is a good option, even if there might be better ones at the same current price.

We had a wonderful stay at The Benjamin. My family always goes to New York in December to see the city at Christmas. This year was obviously different due to COVID and this was our first stay at The Benjamin which was a spectacular hotel. We stayed in a large suite with a balcony that overlooked the city. It was extremely clean, we felt very safe and the staff couldn’t have made our stay better. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, the location was within walking distance of early everything we wanted to see, and the room was bigger than anything we’ve stayed at in New York before. Absolutely recommend, especially if you’re looking for a safe getaway during COVID. Read less
