I stayed two nights here while in town on business. I rarely stay in hotels since my family prefers vacation rentals for more space when we travel, but I needed something close to several Midtown meeting sites and this fit the bill. I loved the James New York - NoMad's location. I walked everywhere I needed to be. Plus, the hotel itself is very quiet, despite being in a very loud and urban area. I occasionally hear police sirens, but other than that, it's quieter than many small city hotels I've stayed in. I did not partake in the morning coffee/fruits, as I stayed on California time and didn't get up until 9 am, and they only offer it 6:30-8:30 am. I had work events but I did stop by one afternoon and saw the large cheese platter and bottles of white wine. There was also a large dispenser of "spa water" but I did not try it. In the room itself, the wardrobe is a bit tight (I brought 3 dresses and had to squeeze them into the narrow left side for long items). The cool retro mini-fridge had an array of expensive treats ($10 water bottle!). When I checked in, the front desk clerk told me I could have one item for free, a snack or non-alcoholic beverage, so I grabbed the giant $10 bottle of water. I haven't checked out yet, so let's hope I understood him correctly and I don't get charged $10! I normally prefer King beds, but since I was alone, the queen was more than sufficient. The bed was dressed with nice linens and a down comforter duvet, too. The room also has its own thermostat and the unit was relatively quiet. The fancy lighting system took me a minute to figure out. I also couldn't figure out why the ceiling light fixture over the table turned itself on at 9 am every day. Good thing I brought an eye mask! Note that the light switches for the tiny bathroom are BEHIND the giant barn door. I spent a good 2 minutes walking in and out of the bathroom trying to find the switches and almost called the front desk. You have to completely close the barn door, turn on the lights, and then completely open them again. That's not very intuitive at all! Yes, it's small but it's NYC. A spacious hotel room here would cost twice as much (or maybe 3 times?). I was in room 403, at the end of the hallway, For one person, there's plenty of space to walk, put down a suitcase, and even do a little yoga or martial arts routines. See photos! I will say it's too bad my room overlooked AC ventilation ducts on the roof. I did work from my home one afternoon and the WiFi is strong. I also was able to print a boarding pass downstairs in the lobby computer workstation/printer. Finally, the staff were uniformly helpful and pleasant. I had Caviar deliver some food from Russ & Daughters and they refrigerated it for me while I was at a work event. I otherwise wouldn't have had time to go there so I was thrilled to have some great smoked salmon, sturgeon, and sable while here. I'd definitely return to this hotel the next time I had business in Midtown. Read less

Room was a good size for NY hotel room and beds were probably the most comfortable I've ever slept on at a hotel. Bathroom was kinda poky but useable. We had a bedside lamp missing from the wall but that didn't really bother us. Foyer was cool and funky. The ordered us a car for the airport and recommend a fab pizza take out and had it delivered to the room. I liked it there! Read less

Enjoyed our stay here very much! Small but sufficient sized room for NYC. Modern and artsy decor. Free water and fruit all day. Wine and cheese happy hour (get there fast, people from all parts of the world love cheese). Morning coffee was free but watery and sometimes only lukewarm. Much better off trying out local coffee down any block in any direction. Nice little gym. Comfy and chic seating in the lobby with free wifi. Bell hops and doormen were all courteous and helpful. Only set back was that my daughter found huge cracker crumbs and toenail clippings right under the nightstand. We asked the front desk staff 2 times to send a maid to vacuum again but they either never did or the maid did not bother to check under the night stand as we'd requested. The desk staff was very courteous and even offered to switch us to a neighboring room, which we declined. Despite this one disappoint I would still recommend this hotel to others. My husband was in love with the vintage bar table that confined our mini fridge. Where do we buy one just like it?! Read less

Room was big but not much space to hang cloths or draw space. Shower was powerful and hot. Tv was massive. Mini bar was in room but expensive so be warned. Would of liked coffee and tea in room. Room was a little dirty Hoovering and dusting around. The view was to the back of the building air vents which was so disappointing and noisy. As a suite we would of thought it was much better. Nothing for our honeymoon though, even though it was on the booking with virgin. Was a little disappointed with the wine and cheese, bit of a free for all and wine in plastic cups doesn’t do it for me sorry. It was free though and I’m sure everyone who isn’t residents come in too. The hotel got us a taxi back to JFK which was a great touch and a loverly driver. Freshwater in lobby was nice to fill up your bottles instead of paying a $4 for a small bottle. We would stay again if price was right. if I could give 3/4 stars I would of. Read less
