This hotel was convenient to everything. It’s smack in the middle of Times Square, and a short walk to the theatre and eateries. The room was spacious, clean, and modern. They even sent up a complimentary bottle of wine to toast my husband’s birthday. Great value and location!
Image of the Tripadvisor rating One night stay, UPGRADE YOUR STAY package a big disappointment

First off, we are huge fans of Kimpton hotels as we usually travel with our dog, and Kimpton loves pets! Unfortunately, we did not feel we were treated properly when we checked in to the Muse. We booked UPGRADE YOUR STAY package, 1 king executive room. At check in, we were assigned a room, thought all was good, until got to room and there was nothing upgraded about it. So went downstairs and kindly asked the gentlemen who checked us in if we were upgraded, and he said unfortunately there were no other rooms available and that we had one of the nicer rooms, for the rate we paid. We were placed in a king executive on the 7th floor. Now, we paid $249 for a Sunday night, plus all the taxes/fees it was over $300. I asked if he had any rooms with balconies available, and basically, he said it’s a much higher rate, and sort of chuckled. I explained I wasn’t concerned about the price…I was more interested in what the upgrade your room package gets you if it doesn't get you an upgraded room?? I'd pay for the balcony, or suite...or would have selected another package. But we thought for a Sunday night, we try the upgrade package. He said he didn't have any other rooms available. He even took it one step further and said he would check to see if there were any cancellations. Of course, there weren't...so there was nothing he could do, so we stayed in the room on the 7th floor. After we settled into our room, I logged on to their website for kicks to see about room availability and needless to say, there were plenty of rooms available. Both suites and balcony rooms. How he could not upgrade is beyond me, and overall, left me feeling extremely disappointing. One other thing he mentioned, according to him they put guests with dogs on the 2nd and 3rd floor! He was kind enough to put us on a higher floor, the 7th. What?! We have stayed at Kimptons in Philly, Chicago, Seattle, DC, Vermont...essentially, whenever we travel, we stay at a Kimpton...never did we hear those who travel with dogs were assigned to lower floors?! I thought the Kimpton welcomes pets, and honestly, we always felt they did...until this guy who checked us in made that remark. Read less

The rooms are average size for NYC (small). There is always construction and noise in NYC so I didn't find the noise levels to be any different than other hotels in the area. There are a few negatives - you can often hear your neighbors from your room, I did not think the bed was comfortable compared to similar hotels, and there is an extra fee associated with the hotel (I think $30). That fee includes a voucher for $10 towards food or drinks. However, a large water at the hotel mini bar is $10, M&Ms are $8, a Kind Bar is $7. It's not out of the ordinary for an NYC hotel, but for the cost of the rooms there should at least be complimentary water. There are also dozens of stores within a minutes walk from the hotel where you can get water, candy, food, for less than half the hotel price. I enjoyed my stay at the Muse. It is a nice hotel, however I found it to be average for the price point. Read less

The staff is wonderful. So friendly and helpful and efficient. The location is near all of the theaters and plenty of restaurant choices. We loved the room option with 2 queens beds. So many other hotels only have 2 fulls or one king. The hot chocolate available all day was a great and being able to fill our water bottles in the lobby at anytime… Read more

The Lobby is small but houses the reception and restaurant. I was checked in quickly and the express elevator to the upper floors whisked me up to my room. It was a nice sized suite with a sitting area facing a TV with a bar/fridge in front of it with a semi dividing wall. On the other side of the wall, there was a king bed and a very large bathroom with a large tub and a separate shower. Breakfast buffet was great in the restaurant and the gym in the basement had Peleton bikes, weights, treadmills and a weight machine. Yoga mats, medicine balls.
