Stayed here for a couple of nights on a business trip. Let's start with the negatives. The large central AC units which regulate the temperature of all the rooms could be heard constantly; you never got silence in the rooms, but instead a constant hum coming from the machines. This was by far the worst of all things, given that the very least you'd expect out of a hotel room is some silence. Secondly, the breakfast was very poor; so much in fact that we had to eat breakfast outside the hotel every day. From a 4 star hotel in NYC, you'd expect a lot better. In addition, the windows in the room were broken and you couldn't open to let some fresh air in the room. There were issues even with the cleaning service - the cleaners wouldn't replace small shampoo and showel gel bottles when they came to clean the rooms. The positives were that the rooms were medium - large sized. And that the staff were friendly and supportive wherever they could be, when something was asked of them. Nevertheless, unfortunately due to the negative aspects, I wouldn't come back to stay here again. Hope this helps! Read less

A beautiful, historic old building with wonderful rooms and public areas. Pizza at the Marta restaurant is among the best I've ever had (it's great to walk into the lobby and get the wood-fire smell) and the offerings at the Italian cafe are first rate. best of all, everything is VERY reasonably priced for the New York City. I particularly want to mention Daniela at reception, who went above and beyond to accommodate us when in town for the marathon. All and all a really great stay with comfortable, quiet beds, great staff and good location. Read less

We were a family of 4 travelling for a once in a lifetime holiday to NYC which unfortunately the staff at the Redbury take for granted. We upgraded the room so we had 2 doubles and a sofa bed when we arrived the gent who took our bags up pointed out the window in the room had shattered and told us to go back down and change rooms which we did. This took a while then a manager came out to say she had upgraded us to a suite with a king bed a sofa bed and they could put a roll away bed in the room as well. As you can imagine that was not what I paid for so I said we would stay in the current room. We were then sent a bowl of fruit a bottle of water and some cookies for the inconvenience. The hotel staff were not very friendly and if you are travelling with kids I would probably choose a different option. We asked the staff at reception how we would get to time square and they said hail a taxi. Thanks that was really helpful as it was our first time in NYC! A little assistance wouldn’t go a miss!! We didn’t have much interaction with the staff after that until the final night when we ordered room service and even after them repeating the order they got it wrong!!! Again no attention to detail. Was extremely disappointed as I have visited America before and the service and staff were all 1st class and couldnt do enough for you but obviously slightly different in new york, Maybe? A great city to visit had an amazing time but can’t deal with staff who treat different guest in different ways. Would probably pass on this one next time. Oh and the cafe in the hotel service is extremely slow tell you your tea and coffee are complimentary and then charge you. Not a great experience need to sharpen up!! Read less
