Trump International Hotel and Tower New York

Midtown, New York

The hotel

At the heart of Manhattan, overlooking Central Park stands the Trump International Hotel & Tower, rising 52 stories into the sky. It’s unparalleled luxury you’ll enjoy at this hotel, the home of New York’s only Five-Star and Five-Diamond restaurant! But first, the accommodation – not only beautifully furnished, many boast their own kitchen too plus floor-to-ceiling windows to take advantage of those views. There’s nothing quite like a New York skyline, especially at night, so sit back on the sofa with an aperitif in hand and take in the magnificence of it all. Something else you must treat yourself too is a trip to the spa, inspired by wellness techniques from around the globe, there’s a unique selection of facials, massages and treatments on offer as well an indoor pool, steam baths, saunas and yoga instruction. Now, back to that restaurant. Jean Georges is the jewel in the Trump crown, bearing the name of its award-winning chef, and setting the bar for the highest standards in quality and service. Blending French, American and Indochinese cuisine, the setting for the restaurant is visually stunning too. For slightly more casual dining, head to Nougatine, offering fine-dining Jean Georges dishes along with daily specials or linger over cocktails at The Terrace, an al-fresco dining area right next door to Central Park.

I used to live in New York City, and I return to the city often - nearly always staying at the Trump International Hotel. The location is Perfect - right between the residential neighborhood of the Upper West Side, and the ultra touristic area of mid-town/Times Square. While it is close to Broadway theaters, and many of the main tourist attractions, it is actually located in a much more civilized area (much nicer than the city armpit of Times Square, where many of the hotels are). The staff are friendly, there's a swimming pool - long enough to swim laps, and the hotel restaurants are Nougatine and Jean George (both run by chef Jean Georges Vongerichten). The rooms are what really sets the Trump apart from the competition - while the regular rooms are fairly equivalent to the offerings of other luxury hotels in town - the suites are a really sweet deal: for a price of just little over that of a standard room, you get two separate living quarters + a full kitchen. The suites can accommodate two adults + two kids comfortably. Real one-bedroom suites at any equivalent hotel (e.g. - the Mandarin Oriental, the Park Hyatt or the Peninsula - at all of which I've stayed) - typically cost more than twice the price of a standard room. There is a lot to like about this place. Nice decor, clean, good standard of rooms though some bathrooms are VERY small ( stayed a number of times do have a good overview). There are some features that make it stand out amongst the other hotels in the area - well equipped kitchenettes in rooms, possibility to tilt the window and get some fresh air, great view over the park (joggers will love it). Rooms look smart, fresh and new. Staff are friendly and helpful so overall it was a very good experience. There’s a lunch/breakfast / informal dinner place on the ground floor with value deals for lunch. Also a high end restaurant for more formal accessions. The food is good, but some healthy eaters will find the options are limited. I certainly felt that the chef likes soaking everything in fat. Also - really bad coffee - they need to get better beans. One thing you need to prepare yourself for is a VERY crowded lobby. The space is tiny and packed with security staff and porters etc so definitely not a place to hold a quick gathering. There is no outside space, no terrace etc. Nice spa - sauna, pool, gym. Beauty treatments rather average but good amenities in the changing room ( hair straighteners, slippers etc). Overall I do recommend it. Read less

+ very friendly and helpful staff, especially the concierge service. + proximity to Central park, taxistand, subway and wholefoods. + park view, + comfy bed - breakfast service (restaurant) is slow and overpriced - the bathroom was small, the bathtub shower combo is not state of the art. - no rooftop terasse/restaurant

Our stay at Trump International Hotel & Tower NTX was the finest hotel experience we've ever had; loved the saltwater pool. Service was excellent via some of nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. A+

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The facilities are excellent. Every detail in the rooms was thought out. The staff are incredible and responded immediately to any request. We have stayed at other 5 star hotels with slow and surly service. The Trump Hotel puts those hotels to shame. The fitness center is large with a wide variety of equipment, ample towels, water, fruit and a pool. We will return whenever we go back to New York. We booked a room with a kitchen and that was a great bonus - a truly full size kitchen to make the stay even more comfortable. Read less
