Mondrian Park Avenue

Midtown, New York

Virgin rating

The hotel

Sleek, sophisticated and bold, it’s easy to see why the Mondrian Park Avenue was named in Conde Nast’s ‘Best 25 hotels in New York City’ in 2019. Overlooking Park Avenue, you can sit and watch the world go by in the rooftop lounge (drink in hand, of course). Wake up to the sights and sounds of the Big Apple from the comfort of your room, and enjoy a morning yoga class, run twice a week. After the sun sets, you can enjoy some Mediterranean-inspired food in the restaurant, or make your way to the hidden lounge bar to enjoy some live music or a DJ set. And when you’re ready to go out exploring, you’re just a few block from some of NYC’s top assets.

Front desks offer a cut above level services that made me happy. I stayed in 3 hotels in Manhatthan during this half a month trip, others are big chains that located around Centeal Park and SOHO. Not that they are bad, but this hotel services are just better. I remember Juliana always stepping in to help me whenever I am down in the lobby area. Thank you! (I like the friendly black tall guy that show me the weather app and white man that help me did looking for my forgot item too) Oh, if you happen to found my brown envelop with my picture inside, please email me at pekky152@gmail.com. Thank you for all the good vibes. I love you guys service! Exellence job! Read less

This hotel is far from a 5 star hotel as it claims to be. It’s currently 4 am and my husband and I have been woken up by loud party goers next door. The walls are paper thin. When trying to call down to front desk we realized the phone in the room doesn’t work! The wifi is extremely slow and the the tv works sporadically. The negative reviews of this hotel are all true. Our family stayed here 2 nights as part of a staycation. The location is convenient to Murray Hill and NoMad districts. The rooms are fine for a mid-range hotel. We had requested connecting rooms and the hotel was at high occupancy so someone arranged us rooms on the same floor. I'm not sure that calling the hotel earlier in the day would have made much of a difference. You can extend your checkout at $50 an hour till 5pm which is a nice service. Room came with breakfast coupons at a nearby coffee shop which is excellent. You can use a nearby NY Sports Club or there is an Equinox nearby if you are a member. Lighting, air conditioning and shower were all very good. Only thing is that if your room is facing Park Avenue expect some noise but it did get quieter after midnight. The hotel tells you about this rooftop terrace but most of the time we were there it was closed for private events. Elevator can get very busy at peak times; there are only 2 for about 15 floors. Other than that, we found the front desk personnel friendly and response was very prompt; request for towels was fulfilled in just a few minutes. If we were tourists here looking for a mid-range hotel, this would be a fine hotel to stay at. If connecting rooms is an absolute must with kids, you might not be thrilled here though if the hotel is busy. Read less

Julia and Tea were extremely hospitable and helpful. They helped with recommendations and extra accommodations, and really made my stay run smoothly. Views are meh but when you’re high up anywhere in Manhattan (with maybe Central Park as the exception) you’re just going to be looking at ugly rooftops, so don’t expect much there. Rooms sizes are standard for Manhattan as well. Was pleasantly surprised by how large/nice/comfortable the bathroom was. Would definitely stay here again. Read less
