Park Hyatt New York

New York, USA

The hotel

Rocking a prime pitch in Midtown Manhattan, the super-sleek Park Hyatt New York overlooks Carnegie Hall and is mere moments from the escapism of Central Park. You don’t have to step outside for escapism though, with its 25th floor virtually taken over by Spa Nalai, the 24-hour fitness hub, and the chic lap pool. You don’t have to step outside to hear the sounds of neighbouring Carnegie Hall either, with the pool’s underwater speakers playing highlights from past performances. You can gaze out over the musical mecca while sipping cocktails in The Living Room, before heading to Bevy to taste its inventive American menu – or before one of the exclusive Masters of Food & Wine events. More like Manhattan apartments than hotel rooms, you’ll find every bell and whistle, from complimentary WiFi to a TV in the bathroom mirror.

Looked into a few NYC properties, landed on Park Hyatt, glad we did. Wonderful location, within walking distance to pretty much everything. Staff was lovely from start to finish. We were upgraded to a Studio Suite which was lovely (the bed was a "C-" on comfort). The room had everything you could want, spacious and comfortable. Loved the shower and the bathtub. Everything was thought of from an amenity standpoint (bathroom kit, Q-tips etc, there isn't anything you could need and not have present in the room). We particularly enjoyed the "heated" bathroom floors, that was a nice touch. We enjoyed drinks at the hotel bar, and daily breakfast via room service ($10.00 charge) every morning was on par with all high end room service meals. Wifi was fast a reliable. Booked through AMEX Fine Hotels and Resorts (nice value for those who enjoy to "get what they pay for"). All in all this was a wonderful stay for a long weekend trip. WE will return. Thank you for a lovely stay. The Bennett's. Read less

We had numerous issues at this property and do not feel it is deserving of being part of the AMEX FHR program. I'm a long time loyal and frequent Langham NY guest through AMEX FHR. Langham meets or exceeds the standards of the FHR program but the NY Park Hyatt falls miles short. When we checked in we were advised we had been upgraded to a 1 bedroom 900sq foot suite vs what we were told was our 500sq foot room. We had specifically requested a high floor because my wife is claustrophobic and strongly prefers rooms with open views and light. The gentleman at the front desk convinced us that the room we had been upgraded to was a significant improvement in size and quality over the King City View room we had booked and that it met the criteria that would make my wife comfortable. In the process of checking us in he also acknowledged that my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and said to us he would be sending a bottle of wine to our room (he even asked what kind of wine we preferred and we told him white). When we arrived at the room, it was not a 1 bedroom suite after all. In fact it was a studio that was at best 150-200sq feet larger than the room we had originally booked. More importantly, the room was on the lowest floor in the hotel and had curved windows that made it feel like staying in a cave. This made my wife incredibly uncomfortable. I immediately notified the gentleman at the front desk of our dissatisfaction with the room but he stated that no better rooms were available and the hotel was fully booked (not the case because I checked online and the hotel had availability). By the way, he never sent the bottle of wine to our room that day. That night, the room next door was playing loud music throughout the night. Around midnight we notified the front desk and about an hour later it finally shut off. Mind you we had traveled from LA that day and were exhausted and got little sleep as we had an early morning start. The next day I mentioned to the front desk about the room again. They said nothing was available and to check back in later in the day. I mentioned again also we were told a bottle of wine was being sent to our room and that we never received it. They said they would send it up right away. The bottle of wine never came that day, or ever during our stay. We also had issues with room service. We told the hotel manager about our experience, he apologized and that was the end of the conversation. Read less
