Seton Hotel

New York, USA

The hotel

Transformed from an old Manhattan apartment block, the Seton Hotel has kept its ‘privately owned feel’ with one-of-a-kind rooms, and an indulgent shared lounge with comfy seating and a 50” TV. Jewel-inspired colours, modern materials, and Art Deco accents that reflect the nearby Chrysler Building, give it a boutique edge at odds with its favourable price tag. Its price defies the extras too, like complimentary WiFi; and the prime location, just 2 blocks from Grand Central Station. If you’re in town for sightseeing, it’s also just a stroll from the Empire State Building and Bryant Park, and if you’re visiting for the shops, it’s within walking distance of Macy’s and Fifth Avenue.

The staff at the Seton are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are nicely laid out and comfortable and have a lovely traditional style, and there is a very comfortable lounge downstairs to relax in and meet friends. There is free tea and coffee downstairs in the mornings between c. 6.30-11am. The location is excellent.

The room had a sink which was helpful given the shared bathroom. We found the bed small. The shared bathroom was kept clean by staff, but as to be expected not all users left it just as you would wish to find it. Although the bathroom seemed to be shared by quite a lot of rooms, we only twice found it occupied so we used one on another floor. Read less

No frills, old school place, ideally situated near Grand Central and great for the price. No unnecessary frills, no opulence or luxury, just basic, clean, functional rooms with good AC and working wifi.

We travelled into the city with my parents who are 70 and I wanted something near the station. I was concerned at first about the Seton but I had no reason to be. We travelled into the city with my parents who are 70 and I wanted something near the station. I was concerned at first about the Seton but I had no reason to be. This 1930s boutique hotel is amazing. It's a two minute walk from Grand Central. The staff was great and got us into our rooms early. They have a cute outdoor patio, a pretty lounge room, a super vintage elevator that I loved, and old school keys. Like metal keys with a plastic key tag that you leave at the reception desk every time you leave. I LOVED that. The rooms we had were small, but we booked a petite room so we knew that. But it was super clean and comfy, and the bathroom was actually huge. There are AC units in each room (window unit). There's a 24 hour CVS around the corner, an oyster bar, a sports bar, and an amazing bagel place around the other corner (Zucker's). Can't recommend this hotel enough. We all loved it. Read less
