Shelburne Hotel & Suites by Affinia

New York, USA

The hotel

If you crave the Manhattan nights you’ve seen in the sit-coms, Shelburne NYC’s got it covered. Just head straight upstairs to Rare View: the archetypal summertime rooftop bar, its 5,000 square feet hold a chilled cocktail party vibe, five unique ‘rooms’ including the picnic patch and champagne garden, and 360 degree views taking in sights like the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building. Back downstairs, Rare Bar & Grill serves up gourmet burgers with twists like tequila-soaked beef, aged whisky slaw, or lobster tail. If you can bear to leave this infinitely trendy hotel, you’ll find you’re in a similarly trendy neighbourhood. But still be sure to keep in mind the complimentary evening wine hour.

Check in was courteous and speedy. The room was nice with good amenities. Mini kitchen, microwave & ice chest was full. The king size bed was nice & comfy. The rooftop offered a good view of the city. The crowd was social and not noisy. The bar menu was plentiful

Had everything we were looking. pleasantly surprised with the size of our room, we were on 3rd floor, street side with a window that opened for fresh air. Street noise was minimal, we didn't even hear garbage trucks. Washroom large with excellent shower and lots of pressure. The bed and pillows were wonderful ( I wish my mattress was this nice) We did not use housekeeping as we were only there 3 days, nor did we use restaurants. Door man was always helpful with direction. It was an easy walk to Grand Central for metro. We stayed here with Porter Airlines special and if the price is right we will stay here again. Read less

So I guess from what they say they will not turn the air on. We have purchased two rooms and and they are both at 80 degrees and will no let us use our air conditioning. They offered to open our windows. It’s extremely uncomfortable and we will never stay use this establishment again
