Received confirmation our suite upgrade was confirmed. Needless to say only 3 of us would fit in the suite - where was my 11 year old to go..... the closet? Arrived @ 7pm - our suite wasn’t ready - come on, 7pm?? We were told for a mere $1000 per night they could get us in a larger suite that was ready. I’ve been a very loyal Marriott member for 25 years and this is how we were treated. Question - where was my 11 year old going to sleep? Back and forth with front desk manager - Petro who had obviously never taken hospitality class showed us a double room the would accommodate our family - dark, low floor, depressing - WE LEFT THE ST. Regis and went directly to the Ritz Carlton Central Park were we felt welcome! To the nice intern at the Front Desk @ the St. Regis - if you want to learn how to treat A guest transfer to the Ritz! We LOVE the St. Regis NYC. The service, the rooms/suites, room service, and attention to detail are a few of the reasons that we continue to stay at this property. The location is also very convenient for shopping, theater, dining, etc. The hotel is elegant, while also very warm and accommodating. We look forward to our return to the St Regis in… Read more

I had a points stay at the St Regis over Memorial Day weekend. This would be out of my price range for a cash purchase, so I'll acknowledge that up front. It was, however, an incredibly comfortable five nights. Every service encounter was great - the desk, the butler, etc. The best shower I've ever had anywhere. It was, however, an incredibly comfortable five nights. Every service encounter was great - the desk, the butler, etc. The best shower I've ever had anywhere. Such water pressure, and always hot. Page the butler in the morning, and they'll bring your NYT paper and tea as you get together. I got to ride in a Bentley to Central Park West on my way to the theater at Lincoln Center. 500 sq ft in Manhattan. It was awesome. Read less

We received a status upgrade to an Astor Suite, which was spacious and elegant. Aside from excellent service from concierges Krista and Domenic, the room was the only positive aspect of our stay. Requesting service at the St Regis New York was like pulling teeth. Our server at the bar was rude and front desk staff was not remotely welcoming. I sustained an injury before our trip and was required to take an epsom soak 3x/day as per my treatment plan. When I requested more bath amenities to accommodate, I was left a voicemail saying that I could purchase extra amenities at the front desk. We had also requested drip coffee instead of french press for our second morning, as the french press on our first morning was so full sediment that we barely drank it. They would not accommodate that request either and said it would cost extra (even though it's a cheaper item on their IRD menu). There were several instances like this where we just felt baffled by the service at this property. It could have been so easy for them to bring the drip coffee, or bath salts without charging extra or making us feel uncomfortable for asking. The service was closer to that of a Best Western than a St Regis and we were happy when it was time to leave. Read less

Great hotel, location, breakfast, service with butler. If you are service oriented and you love attention to detail you will love this hotel. The description of other reviewers give you a clear idea. We had one of the bigger King rooms with a small seating area and the room was very posh but we had a view of a wall, just a brick wall, and that took away from a glamorous NYC stay! Although our stay at the St. Regis was enjoyable I would not stay here again unless I was 100% sure I got a room with a nice view and no one can promise you that up front, unfortunately. That's why the 4 stars. Read less
