The Standard Highline

New York, USA

The hotel

There’s nothing standard about The Standard, High Line. Located on the High Line (a disused rail track that’s become a ‘go to’ sight for travellers and a ‘go to’ park for New Yorkers), The Standard has a cool Meatpacking District address. Its sepia and white rooms have a slight 70s vibe with floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views over Manhattan or the Hudson River (or both). Sociable from top to toe, the penthouse floor belongs to Le Bain, a rooftop club that stays open until 4am most nights, while the street level brings you the pretzels, sausages, and beers of The Standard Biergarten, and the seaside-inspired menu of The Standard SeaShack.

Very fun and "hip" hotel. The views are fantastic from the room and the roof bar. The shower area was a bit risky for me sharing with a friend but would be awesome for a significant other. The plaza space was a great spot for wine and Christian was great help deciding. David the front desk manager was also a great help during my stay and took… Read more

Very good service. Check-in was one of the quickest I've experienced with no lines. The room itself was average I would say. I had a king room with a view of the Empire State. It was somewhat small. There was no iron or ironing board in the room and the full length window lets a LOT of light in the morning. Frankly the standard king room is… Read more
Very good service. Check-in was one of the quickest I've experienced with no lines. The room itself was average I would say. I had a king room with a view of the Empire State. It was somewhat small. There was no iron or ironing board in the room and the full length window lets a LOT of light in the morning. Frankly the standard king room is average and not memorable other than the view. The Top of The Standard and the Standard Grill are the showpieces of the hotel with great views and service. The onsite club, Le Bain, can't be beat but entrance is not guaranteed as the front desk advises. The location can't be beat for trendy restaurants and shopping. I would return but maybe upgrade the room. That may throw the "value" out of whack though. Read less

Hotel is lovely but expensive $409 a night in May. Was very disappointed with the bathroom: No privacy since the shower has all clear glass walls, a door on the toilet area which makes a very loud noise when shut. The tub/shower is so high that I was not able to get into it for fear of falling. Very modern looking.

Very cool building straddling the High Line, fun location for a tourist excursion to NYC. Loads of dining options within walking distance, ten minute walk to the subway. Not necessarily great for a business trip to the city but neat experience. Staff was awesome, very helpful at front desk, lounge, restaurant. Highly recommend. Upper floors… Read more
