The Surrey

Upper East Side, New York

The hotel

The Surrey is the first and only hotel in New York City to be added to the Relais & Chateaux family of luxury properties in the past 20 years. As you’d expect from an establishment that includes JFK and Bette Davis as previous patrons, dining facilities are exceptional and from the Michelin-starred French fusion restaurant, Café Boulud serving delicious light brunches, prepare for nothing less than the best. Ideally located amongst the brownstone terraces and artistic haunts of Manhattan’s Upper East Side, taking in the sights is always at a premium and thanks to a private roof garden which combines café culture with signature cocktails, views of Central Park have never looked so splendid. If you prefer to relax at a slightly more active pace then the fitness centre is definitely for you with the massage service and spa facilities providing the perfect way to wind down after an exciting day in the city. As you’ll be staying just a stone’s throw from the likes of the Guggenheim, the Frick Collection and the MET, art is always an essential ingredient and thanks to the Surrey’s own private collection, you’re bound to discover some phenomenal contemporary works.

The Surrey Hotel staff really made me feel relaxed, and were very attentive during my stay. Every time, I walked in the hotel and exited, I was personally greeted by the front desk and the bellman, who asked me, how I was and wishing me a pleasant outing. My room was clean, fresh and very inviting overall. The bed was divine and so comfortable, with such soft linen. Room climate control was absolutely perfect. Taxi service was ideal, no long wait time as the doorman was spot on! Wake-up call was right on time, and was offered an additional reminder. Two sitting chairs and coffee table opposite the bed, made me feel I was in a mini suite. Overall location and service for a home away from home night in Manhattan at the Surrey, made me feel special. I would definitely return again and again. Read less
