First the good points: We were given a lovely upgrade and a birthday gift of cake and wine. We are Platinum Elite members. The room was huge with a good bathroom with tub and shower which all worked well. Bliss toiletries are lovely. The room was dark and quiet which made for a good night’s sleep. The room was huge with a good bathroom with tub and shower which all worked well. Bliss toiletries are lovely. The room was dark and quiet which made for a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were all courteous and friendly. Now the not so clever: Check in and out took ages with much confusion. No one was clear whether our breakfast was included or not. So far we seem to have been credited for one night but not the other. No mention on check in of the $25 tax, so we had no idea that we could have redeemed this on food and drink. Despite the trendy look, just behind the surface everything is a little bit tired. Hopefully with a bit more bedding in time, the kinks in check in/ pricing clarity will be sorted out. Read less

Immediately when we step out of the car in front of the hotel, Jose rushes to greet us and warmly welcomes us back to the only hotel we stay at in NYC time and time again. Although it is quite early in the morning, they find us a room that is ready and we are all set to go explore the City in no time. The service at the W is equal to none. We are always well treated. Unfortunately, 2 of the elevators broke down during our stay and I can only imagine how difficult it is to get an elevator mechanic to make a service call during Easter weekend. Nonetheless, the staff took appropriate measures by allowing guests to use the service elevators. Our room was well lighted and spacious. Everything was impeccable and comfortable. A special mention to Jose whom is so king and attentive to our needs. We always look forward to staying at the W Union Square. Its location is also very convenient. You can easily walk to Empire State, Madison Square Park or the Meatpacking district. 14th Street Union Sq. station is a hub that offers many option for the subway and Park Avenue is easily accessible from all locations. Missing W style but it is a good hotel! Rooms are not so big and outside W details! The bar/breakfast restaurant is ok but very classic and not updated with another W Hotels around the world. Not Recognition for SPG Gold Member/ this is why I m just little disappointed with Starwood/ Marriott. Needs to be consistently and not up/down

The W Union Square is highlighted by a rarity in New York: spacious rooms at a decent price. While not as cheap as some hotels in Midtown, it gets great value from the well-appointed and large rooms, excellent and very responsive staff, and location right on Union Square. The decor might be a touch dated for all its modern ambitions, but the W bed… Read more

Love this place, location is amazing. Stayed at the W union square on 2013 and again in October 2018 - view from the upper floors to the Union Square is beautiful, service was very good, rooms quality and bathroom very good as well. Will definitely come back
