Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia

Upper East Side, New York

The hotel

In a quiet corner of New York, but close enough to the sights not to have to bother hailing a yellow cab, Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia is a rare refuge from the Big Apple buzz. Hidden away on a tree-trimmed road on the Upper East Side, you can escape to the chic calm of your suite, where homely comforts include your own kitchen, and luxuries include grocery and breakfast deliveries. Downstairs, the Serenity Lounge’s complimentary Tea Bar has a bespoke blend laced with chamomile, citrus and vanilla designed to soothe you (and that ubiquitous New York ‘caw-fee’ to perk you back up). When you do fancy some Manhattan exuberance, just grab one of the free bikes and follow the hotel’s sightseeing app and you’ll soon find yourself in nearby Central Park, Museum Mile, or Bloomingdale’s.

This hotel was in a great location. Large suite with kitchen was great for our family of 4. The beds were extremely comfortable, easy access to subway station and staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.

I've stayed several times at the Gardens Suites, both for personal and work travel. Each time the staff has been responsive and attentive, ensuring that logistics were worry-free and every interaction pleasant. Because of the staff’s commitment to excellence, my family will continue to look to Affinia for our hotel destination when in New York.

We stayed here for one night. Our room had two double beds and a pull out sofa. It comfortably fit four people, especially for NYC. This hotel was perfect for our stay because it was clean, quick for check in and out, and it’s pretty. Was it priced fairly? It’s slightly high by about $75.00 per night, in my opinion, but maybe I haven’t stayed in as many hotels in NYC to really know. The bed wasn’t very comfortable as compared to the many hotels in this price range for which I’ve frequented over the years. That is my one and only complaint, and I d recommend this place to a friend. Read less

It’s situated in a very good location between 2 subway stations and not too far from Central Park and 5th Avenue. Would definitely recommend to anyone planning a visit to New York.(Also a very good burger restaurant opposite) Read less

We had a very good experience here. It's the most room we've ever had - 2 queen beds and a pull-out couch meant everyone had plenty of room. SO spacious. We all got decent sleep which is usually a challenge when we're crammed into two beds (no one sleeps well). It's close to Central Park and the museums - easy access to the subway making it easy… Read more

We all got decent sleep which is usually a challenge when we're crammed into two beds (no one sleeps well). It's close to Central Park and the museums - easy access to the subway making it easy to get around. Michael is a stand-out there - he was so helpful to us throughout our stay, helping us with everything from recommendations on where to eat, how to get around and our luggage. Very friendly - by far the most personable employee we encountered. 5 stars for Michael! (-: What else? Very quiet - not much noise at all (unless others allowed doors to slam, etc.). Very safe, quiet residential area (upper east side). There's a CVS just down the block. There's a fabulous pizza place Lunetta (recommended by the hotel) and for breakfast, try Le Pain Quotidien. Also good bagel shops nearby. The only thing we'd like to have had is breakfast included at the hotel and we missed having a pool (it was VERY hot) - but I don't think many hotels in NYC have these options. Overall, we felt like this place was a great choice for us. It used to be apartments, so it has a kitchen, too. Full-size refrigerator, so you can bring/buy your own drinks/snacks. We would go back.
