Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia

Upper East Side, New York

The hotel

In a quiet corner of New York, but close enough to the sights not to have to bother hailing a yellow cab, Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia is a rare refuge from the Big Apple buzz. Hidden away on a tree-trimmed road on the Upper East Side, you can escape to the chic calm of your suite, where homely comforts include your own kitchen, and luxuries include grocery and breakfast deliveries. Downstairs, the Serenity Lounge’s complimentary Tea Bar has a bespoke blend laced with chamomile, citrus and vanilla designed to soothe you (and that ubiquitous New York ‘caw-fee’ to perk you back up). When you do fancy some Manhattan exuberance, just grab one of the free bikes and follow the hotel’s sightseeing app and you’ll soon find yourself in nearby Central Park, Museum Mile, or Bloomingdale’s.

I booked this hotel for 4 weeks because of its access to the Sloan Kettering hospital. A large number of guests use this hotel because of its location to the hospital. I'm checking out after only one week due to a male staff member that sits at the front desk without a mask. After one week, I am scheduled to start chemo/radiation. I am feeling… Read more

I'm checking out after only one week due to a male staff member that sits at the front desk without a mask. After one week, I am scheduled to start chemo/radiation. I am feeling expendable, so I am going to the Marriott, about 10 streets farther but definitely safer for my health. I should note that all other staff members, as well as guests, wear a mask. The compact kitchen has pretty much everything one needs for a stay and the service is low key, but very friendly. Rates are very reasonable for what you get especially if you take advantage of the discounts they offer, but they are still higher than other parts of the city not as convenient to hospitals. Excellent nearby groceries make cooking and easting in your suite quite convenient. Only two minor gripes: The quoted hotel rate for parking is substantially higher than what you can find on your own very nearby and the large patios could use a bit ore dressing up with planters etc. Read less

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks and everything about it was excellent. The hotel is clean and disinfected. The neighborhood is fairly quiet and convenient. There is an amazing grocery store around the corner, a CVS pharmacy within 300 feet and a short walk to Central Park. The doorman Kris was stellar, always willing to help, always cheerful… Read more

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Ground floor suite with a patio. Perfect for our COVID-19 trip.

Given the pandemic stress the staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful. Comfortable and clean rooms. We stayed in the ground floor suite with a nice spacious patio which was helpful in meeting friends outdoors. Little things were missing as in the kitchenette no cooking spoons or spatulas. Great central location.
