Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia

Upper East Side, New York

The hotel

In a quiet corner of New York, but close enough to the sights not to have to bother hailing a yellow cab, Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia is a rare refuge from the Big Apple buzz. Hidden away on a tree-trimmed road on the Upper East Side, you can escape to the chic calm of your suite, where homely comforts include your own kitchen, and luxuries include grocery and breakfast deliveries. Downstairs, the Serenity Lounge’s complimentary Tea Bar has a bespoke blend laced with chamomile, citrus and vanilla designed to soothe you (and that ubiquitous New York ‘caw-fee’ to perk you back up). When you do fancy some Manhattan exuberance, just grab one of the free bikes and follow the hotel’s sightseeing app and you’ll soon find yourself in nearby Central Park, Museum Mile, or Bloomingdale’s.

The staff are the friendliest and we have stayed here a few times over the past 6 years and to see some familiar faces in this industry is a sign of a good hotel. The hotel feels small - but the rooms are BIG and clean and modern. The location is conveniently located to some big landmarks. The subway is near. We simply love staying here and are looking forward to coming back! Read less

They never made our beds. On the last night of our 5-day stay, I couldn’t bear it anymore so I called guest services at around 10 PM. When I called and very politely asked for help, the guy joked with me, “So, what do you want? You want me to send up a new bed or something? Hahaha.” When he decided to get serious, he explained housekeeping went… Read more

We got similar responses when we had to call down to get someone to unclog the toilet every night. On a positive note, the rooms are spacious and the price is decent. But if service is important to you, this place is an absolute nightmare. Read less

The neighborhood is clean and relatively quiet for NYC - I would request a higher floor level if I return. Rooms are clean and kitchenette was helpful for quick breakfast in the morning. Only minor critique is that the bed pillows need to be fuller and more plentiful. Read less

This was our 6th stay at Affinia Gardens. As in the past the staff was courteous, professional and helpful. Our room was a good value. Our only less than positive comment is that some of the fixtures and accessories in our room were looking somewhat used and tired. This didn't stop us from sleeping well each night!
