Viceroy New York

New York, USA

The hotel

Both a modern masterpiece and a work of art, the Viceroy Central New York has been styled to capture the glamorous era of 1920s New York. Expect leather Chesterfield sofas to lounge on and gorgeous lucky vintage shop finds, all of which lend character and atmosphere to this already iconic residence. From the luxury of your room – reminiscent of a cabin room on a seafaring liner – you’ll enjoy bird’s-eye views of Central Park as well as the surrounding city. In fact, you’re well placed to explore all the sights, including the world-famous Tiffany & Co, just a stone’s throw away. There are shops, bars and restaurants galore on your doorstep but the hotel’s The Roof is most definitely a place to see and be seen in. As well as boasting more of those gorgeous views we’ve been raving about, it has a very happening vibe plus the most exciting cocktails on the block. On the street level is Kingside Restaurant, another great place to relax, this time over the finest New American cuisine.

The Viceroy surprised me. My room was in the 24th floor. Looks like recently remodeled , it was a gorgeous room. Very clean, confy bed and the perfect size for a NYC hotel. I ordered breakfast in room and it was delivered in less than 10 minutes and it was delicious. The lobby is being remodeled, but that was not a problem for me, I was looking… Read more

Stayed here for 3 nights in April 2019 and was disappointed. Stayed here for 3 nights in April 2019 and was disappointed. The lobby was under construction and was not usable so they set up the concierge in a 2nd floor conference room with coffee to replace the lobby. We had a room with a king size bed which was approximately 240 square feet se we were tripping over each other. The bathroom was nice and we enjoyed the shower. The air-conditioning was not working well and it was loud. We could not get the coffee maker to work. There is a rooftop bar that was nice to have. They gave us access to an athletic club which was 8 blocks away. On the day we were checking out the elevator was not functioning. I understand that they are making improvements to the hotel but we were shocked when they charged us a $29 plus tax amenity fee when there were no amenities. After our hotel stay I called the hotel to complain about the amenity fee twice and left messages and no one returned my call. The positives about the hotel was that the staff seemed nice and the concierge was very helpful. The negative is this hotel should not have charged us the "resort fee" and acknowledged that they were having issues. Instead, the experience was negative and we will not be going back. Read less

Chris Carrow is one of the best concierge's I have dealt with. He was so incredibly informative and enhanced our stay in New York to new levels. Every single place, play or other entertainment venue he recommended was right on. He is a master of customer service.

If your aesthetic is masculine marble and antique brass this hotel is for u! Basic king is on the small side, but sufficient for our three night stay! Two short blocks from Central Park. Hotel staff is nice overall, but housekeeping is subpar! I think if you pay under 350 it’s a nice enough choice for NYC! Heard they are slowly redoing the… Read more
