You can tell that nearly every detail about the Salishan Coastal Lodge is well thought out and given an elevated sense of heritage and modernity. You can tell that nearly every detail about the Salishan Coastal Lodge is well thought out and given an elevated sense of heritage and modernity. The staff were very attentive and well trained, if not showing a little newness to the trede. Though, I can say with certainty that covid restrictions have gutted much of the service profession on the Oregon coast and (sadly) many of the long standing experiences have significantly changed or are gone. It seems like every business and able body are scrambling to return things to their former glory. Regardless, the highlights of natural beauty, best in class accomodations, and unique and numerous attractions make for a great trip to one of our new found favorites - the Salishan Lodge. Read less

Beautiful facilities, but we couldn’t use any of them. Everything was booked out further than the amount of time that we were staying there (4 days). No dinner at Bay House, no massage at the spa, no kayak rentals (which we were told they had when we booked), no glass floats. The room’s carpet and furniture were covered in dog hair. Yes, they did come back in and vacuum, but hours later than we were promised. We gave up a full week in Interval for Sheridan Mountain Vista in Vail, CO for these 4 days, plus several hundreds of dollars on top of that. I gave 3 stars more because of the fun we had off site. Also, the staff were very friendly as they told us “no” for everything we asked for. If you book to stay here, book amenities at the same time, or they will not be available to you. Read less

Making the reservation should have provided a clue. The person on the phone knew nothing - could only read what was provided. The check in was tedious to say the least. Making the reservation should have provided a clue. The person on the phone knew nothing - could only read what was provided. The check in was tedious to say the least. Yes, we knew that the restaurant was not open the days we were to be there. What we didn't know is that the bar (i.e. an alternate space for eating) was closed due to lack of staffing. So the only food is a walk up counter. We had breakfast at the walk up site and...it appeared they wanted us on a diet. A small (!) wedge of the daily quiche which was barely edible. At this high priced resort we returned to our room this afternoon and it had not been cleaned. In calling the front desk we learned they would not be cleaned. I asked for new towels. They and a blanket requested earlier are yet to appear. To say this was a disappointment is an understatement. To continue to charge 5 star prices at this 2 star resort is wrong. We have come here for years and years and will never return. Read less

Our visit was excellent. Service, from the moment we needed to make adjustments to our online reservation, was excellent. Nickie, Kristi, and Sophie at the front desk and Andrea at the provisions market made our visit special. The lodge is a 1960’s masterpiece that has been well maintained and updated. If you want a 2021 boutique hotel… Read more

I loved it! The location is perfect, tucked among the redwoods and ferns with easy access to the beach. The property is nicely landscaped with many seating areas with fire pits and a view of the golf course/grassy knoll. The grounds are well-kept. Across the street is a set of shops and restaurants/brewery with a little tented crafts market in the side parking lot. DO NOT miss the food truck there. We had the best fish and chips, made with halibut, that we have ever had. We got it to go and then sat at the lovely outdoor brewery space and ate, drank and listened to live music. Every morning we took the 20 minute walk to the beach along a lovely, easy trail and then let the dog frolic on the miles of beach. The staff are friendly and very helpful. When I was making my reservation, I described what I would like in a room -- quiet, on the top floor, with a view -- and they gave us the perfect room. They honored our request for late check out and just generally tried to do anything to make our stay pleasurable. Although the rooms are not perfect, they are just fine. Pros: large, well-laid out, great balcony with a view, nice bathroom. Cons: furniture a little dated and a mildewy smell from being so close to the sea and in an area that gets foggy. The room was very clean, and we left the balcony door open to bring in fresh air and bought a scented candle to burn. All of that helped. We would definitely return! Read less
