Kimpton Hotel Monaco Portland

Portland, Oregon

The hotel

Proudly promising all of Portland’s biggest attractions, bikes, brews, and books, Kimpton Hotel Monaco’s downtown spot makes experiencing them easy. Complimentary bikes are just the beginning; there’s a free 24-hour gym, complimentary hot drinks in the lounge each morning, and wine hour in the cosy lobby each night, often featuring piano or jazz swing bands or showcasing local chocolatiers or wineries. High ceilings and picture windows are reminders of its department store heritage, while touches like bird-sprinkled wallpaper adds a whimsical twist. The happy hour’s equally playful; so good it actually lasts three hours, it features small plates, microbrews, and cocktails. And, after you stroll back from Pioneer Square, the waterfront, or the block-long Powell’s bookstore, the hotel’s Red Star Tavern’s ready with innovative American dishes.

Beautiful hotel & atmosphere. Customer service was outstanding. The staff was ahead of us every step of the way. They asked what we’d like to do during our stay, recommended restaurants, provided tips and how to get around. Extremely friendly and engaging front desk. They also checked in several times to make sure we were comfortable and to see if there was anything we needed. The hotel was quiet, eclectic and tastefully decorated. A dog-friendly hotel with greetings for furry friends as well, with a cute dog-shaped board in the entry with all the dog guests' names. Lovely! Read less

This was a family trip - we secured a jr suite since we were on an extended trip - I'm so glad we did since my husband was a bit under the weather and the extra space and sofa was critical. Very comfy, quiet (except for one night - which was promptly resolved when we called the front desk) and clean. Staff was very thoughtful and friendly. … Read more

Very comfy, quiet (except for one night - which was promptly resolved when we called the front desk) and clean. Staff was very thoughtful and friendly. Location is walking distance to shopping and lots of downtown activities. The attached restaurant serves a tasty breakfast. We rented a car for a few days and the rental place was only a block away. The valet parking is a bit pricey so we used a nearby less expensive lot. Goes without saying - we also really enjoyed the happy hour and live music! We're looking forward to our next stay here! Each property has their own special quarks and unique specialities, but the staff is absolutely top-notch at each. What really sets Kimpton, especially the Hotel Monaco in Portland, apart is the accommodations and gratuities provided to the guests. We always feel like VIP when we check in, and are always taken exceptional care of The entire time. Lastly, you can't beat the perks and extras given to you every time. This is our home away from home for sure. Thank you bellman Jonathan for taking such great care of us this time around. ❤ Read less

We frequently travel as a family to Portland and love staying at the Kimpton Monaco. The staff are always friendly and we love the coffee service in the morning and the wine and light snacks in the evening. Many hotels have this but here it’s well done and they have a really cozy ‘living room’ in the lobby with large games and fireplace and comfy seating. The occasional well behaved doggos and so many friendly travelers all gather here every day that we actually feel connected to this place! Also a piano which my adult daughter plays is a welcome gift❤️. This last time we stayed Daniel went above and beyond upgrading us to a corner suite as there was construction updating the look for the hotel on the other floors. Everyone who works here is gracious and thoughtful. They know Portland well and can direct you to food, events or other fun. Rooms are very spacious w multiple bed options (Decor is perfectly Portland (put a bird on it!)) there are Elegant clean bathrooms and comfy pillows and robes. anything you forgot they can get for you. Food at the attached restaurant Red Star is excellent, can be charged to the room and is the room service. Summer you can rent bikes, year round the valet is the usual price for Portland and very efficient with thoughtful people running it. It’s just a pleasure to stay here! Read less
