Sunriver Resort

Sun River, Oregon

The hotel

More village than hotel, Sunriver Resort’s part of a private 3,300 acre community along the Deschutes River, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Designed to immerse you in al fresco experiences, it’s filled with all manner of outdoorsy attractions. There are the simple pleasures, like 40 miles of biking and hiking trails, and stargazing at the observatory. And then there are the uber-indulgent ones, like stables, a marina, a spa, 9 dining experiences ranging from gourmet to beer garden, an airstrip, and 63 holes of golf spread across 4 courses, one of which will host the 2017 PGA Professional Championship. A destination in itself, The Cove is Sunriver’s swimming zone, with dining, a zero-entry pool, fire pits, even nature trails. Thank goodness they lay on free transport around the resort.

Way too expensive for the service and value received. With Covid rules / regulations, limitations of facilities; was wasted money. Couldn't get a reasonable time / reservation in their restaurants, couldn't use the pool without having a reservation, no daily room service, had to call for towels, coffee replenishment, garbage pickup, etc.

We love Sunriver and will definitely be back! Everything everyone raves about is true. There is a ton to do for our kids age 7 & 8. The SunRiver Resort is nice, roomy, kitchen was helpful but a little skimpy on supplies. We actually really liked the 2 hour pool time reservation so that it isn't too crowded, but clearly the system needs better communication if a lot of people aren't getting pool times at all. Also, it would be helpful to be notified that housekeeping needs 5 hours for cleaning and airing out. We had to try again on a day when we would be gone this long with our dog. When we called back the next day to request housekeeping, we were told it needs to be requested a day ahead. So we ended up not getting house keeping until day 6. I hope management is actually listening and trying to improve. The responses to feedback have been rather generic. Read less

Had perfect weather for our hike up to Broken Top from Todd Lake, to the viewpoint above No Name Lake with incredible views of the Three Sisters, Jefferson, Washington, Three Fingered Jack and Hood off in the distance. Also had a great time biking around Sunriver, where the paved trail system is just fantastic. Staff at the resort are top notch and we enjoyed an incredible weekend. Highly reccomend! Read less

Just a note it was over 100 degrees but you can't rent inner tubes and none around for the river. You can only rent SUP or kayaks or rafts - which for little kids isn't the best bc they can't cool down. Understandably, bc of Covid it is a lottery for the pool. We had 3 rooms and tried to make reservations just for ONE day of the week and… Read more

We had 3 rooms and tried to make reservations just for ONE day of the week and couldn't get in - even with 3 rooms. Just be aware if it a hot week its very limiting on how to cool down. There was also a pretty high daily resort fee which Im not sure what are 100's of dollars went to esp during the time of Covid. We do love Sunriver though and it was beautiful. Read less

We were concerned this year because of the virus, however, with all of the steps that the resort has taken, it turned out to be another great spot to enjoy our vacation. Our daughter, who came to Sunriver since she were was five years old, as she is now 40 years old, also has been coming to Sunriver, with her family, over the last few years. Many great memories.
