Sunriver Resort

Sun River, Oregon

The hotel

More village than hotel, Sunriver Resort’s part of a private 3,300 acre community along the Deschutes River, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Designed to immerse you in al fresco experiences, it’s filled with all manner of outdoorsy attractions. There are the simple pleasures, like 40 miles of biking and hiking trails, and stargazing at the observatory. And then there are the uber-indulgent ones, like stables, a marina, a spa, 9 dining experiences ranging from gourmet to beer garden, an airstrip, and 63 holes of golf spread across 4 courses, one of which will host the 2017 PGA Professional Championship. A destination in itself, The Cove is Sunriver’s swimming zone, with dining, a zero-entry pool, fire pits, even nature trails. Thank goodness they lay on free transport around the resort.

Beautiful place to stay! Offers relaxation or an activity for everyone to enjoy. Great for a couples getaway or a family vacation. We stayed in a River Lodge room and it was beautiful. It was very spacious and looked right over the river and the Meadow Golf Course. If you are staying more than a few days, my only suggestion would be to get a room with a kitchenette or rent a house. There are multiple dinning options, but we stayed 5 nights and wished we had gotten a room with the option of a kitchen so that we could have cooked some of our own meals. Also, ask about class schedules and a seasonal events calendar. We didn't find out about some of the classes offered or events until the day before we left and would have like to have had that information from the beginning of our stay. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be staying there again! Read less

Attended a wedding of friends, everything went first class. Sunriver Resort is a Great Destination, Great Venue, Great Staff. Was surprised and astounded how much the area and especially Bend Oregon had grown since my last trip there. Of course that was about 50 years ago.

As summer was coming to a close my husband and I decided to sneak away to Sunriver Resort ( only 15 minutes from our home). We enjoyed a great cabin, a kayak on the river, Sunny day at The Cove, a bike ride around the property, ending with a beautiful sunset while dining at Carsons! It felt like we were far from home! We will do it again!!

Could not be more disappointed in how gross the room was. There was so much dust on every surface, it must not have been cleaned in weeks(months?).Obviously not vacuumed either. We requested a cleaning which there was no evidence of when we returned for the evening. We squeezed into our tiny double beds when we returned at the end of the evening to discover smelly pillows and linens. Too late to do anything about it. 2 coffee cups for 3 guests-only decaf coffee and 1 tea. No cream, old crunchy sugar packets. We left for the day hoping The issues would be taken care of. We returned to find new towels and the same old dirty linens merely thrown up on the beds. Dirty sink, dirty dusty everything else. No clean coffee cups or water glasses or new ones. No freshened up room. No new soap or toiletries. No vacuuming. I immediately called and again requested housekeeping service. I was politely told they would be right there. We waited 2 hours before departing for our event that evening and no one ever came. Maybe they thought we said yes to the cheesy offer of $5 to decline housekeeping service that they had texted me after arrival! What was that about? Well I’d gladly accept the $5, but there’s no amount of money that can make up for the icky feeling after staying 2 nights here. The poor lighting doesn’t hide the dirt and the smell! When I came to write this review I noticed several other mentions of poor housekeeping, this obviously is not a fluke, you need better management. Read less

The Sunriver lodge is a beautiful venue and the staff was more than willing to go out of their way to help in any way. The rooms were beautifully decorated and laid out and it was a pleasurable experience.
