Sunriver Resort

Sun River, Oregon

The hotel

More village than hotel, Sunriver Resort’s part of a private 3,300 acre community along the Deschutes River, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Designed to immerse you in al fresco experiences, it’s filled with all manner of outdoorsy attractions. There are the simple pleasures, like 40 miles of biking and hiking trails, and stargazing at the observatory. And then there are the uber-indulgent ones, like stables, a marina, a spa, 9 dining experiences ranging from gourmet to beer garden, an airstrip, and 63 holes of golf spread across 4 courses, one of which will host the 2017 PGA Professional Championship. A destination in itself, The Cove is Sunriver’s swimming zone, with dining, a zero-entry pool, fire pits, even nature trails. Thank goodness they lay on free transport around the resort.

We were so hopeful as we drove into the resort! surroundings are beautiful!! Our first "suite" (not an actual suite-- it's a loft) had food crumbs, the floor hadn't been cleaned, hand prints on the windows and dust all over the furniture. The burners on the stove were all out of place and trim hanging off the dishwasher. Management went over and above to try and redeem our stay. ((thank you)) Helped us to move into a second "suite" which they claimed they had gone over with a fine- tooth comb when cleaning. I really wish they hadn't claimed that. We found an empty snack bag in the loft on the floor and the grossest thing - dark streaked dirt marks and dried blood on our extra bedding blanket and unclean windows. I really feel like for the money, this place is not worth a stay. We cancelled our second night to move to a different location. A few things that would make this better: update! Rooms are surprisingly worn. Clean (this one is easy) Maybe a checklist for your housekeeping team? Over and above: a few very inexpensive items would go a long way making a guest feel welcome on your property... for example: Adequate coffee cups for the number of guests staying in the room. Coffee choices would be nice... salt and pepper in the kitchen are basic but inexpensive. On the good side: the staff is kind, even though perhaps needing more hospitality training. This place could be great but it sorely misses the mark. Read less

The room was not ready on time. Overpriced for what it was. My toiletry items appeared to have been gone through.....this was not a good trip. Many in the past have been great, but this year, I was not impressed!

Sunriver always delivers a good time. The cove was wonderful for my 4 and 6 year olds. The food was really tasty and the bike trails did not disappoint! All in all, it was a great staycation for the family

Slightly above average for this type of property. Would not go back for personal vacation. Very expensive, especially food and beverage. Rooms are getting tired and staff is only OK. Need more outdoor lights for walking to rooms at night
