Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great pool and spa but the hotel needs some work

I stayed here for a long weekend in the presidential suite. The staff was great but the hotel needs some serious remodeling. I get the eclectic theme that they are trying for but it comes off more hot mess. The suite that we were in was not clean. There were chips out of the baseboard mystery stains on the carpet and dirt on the wallpaper. This is also a party hotel so the pool is packed and it gets loud at night with drunk guest coming and going. I will say that the spa was beyond amazing here! I would comeback for a treatment anytime I’m in town. You almost fell like you’ve been transported somewhere when you step into the treatment waiting room! Check it out if you get a chance. Read less

I simply don’t understand the source of bad reviews here. I had a junior suite and it was immaculate, quiet and the bed is soo comfy. The grounds are gorgeous and the soleil pool is paradise. There is some traffic noise in rooms but I’ve stayed at several Palm Springs hotels and that’s been true of all of them. Bottom line: this is a stylish hotel with a fun vibe that’s not an all out party either, and wonderful rooms. I can’t wait to visit again. Read less

Let me tell you about the WORST possible thing you can drive 3 hours in traffic to find out... Towards the last week of March, I decided to book The Riviera Palm Springs for my BIRTHDAY celebration because in the past I have always LOVED this hotel - the look and feel of hotel - and we have always enjoyed the vibe of the pool. So after hustling in traffic for 3+ hours, we finally arrive to the hotel on Saturday (May 4) morning and I'm standing in line for over 30 minutes to check in as the front desk lady is telling the girls ahead that it's a busy weekend for the hotel because they have weddings and parties and they are sold out of rooms. I finally get to the front desk to check in and the woman tells me she can't "find my reservation" - at first, I panic and then I pull it up (I booked with AMOMA - which I have used in the past for this hotel) - she tells me she still can't find my reservation. She goes "Well, let me go check in the back and I'll be right back out". I thought this was weird considering she did not take ANY of my information into the back with her but I was unsure if she was just going to go get a manager or something else (maybe she has magical powers of remembering complicated number combinations aka my reservation confirmation). She comes back after 20 minutes and goes "Yeah, Amoma cancelled your reservation months ago" with a smirk on her face and the look and feel of panic in my body was unreal. So I go "What do you mean? I'm on the website and it says I have a reservation - and it has not been refunded - I have already paid for the room". She looks at me and goes "Yeah, I'm sorry - we are sold out". So I gather my things and leave... after making reservations for nearly DOUBLE the amount at a different hotel - we check in and my best friend calls to ask me if I got my stuff that she sent to our room at The Riviera Hotel... I go "No, they cancelled my reservation - we are staying at a different hotel" and she goes "That's impossible, I sent it to your room with your name - there is a room there for you with someone in it - they checked in Friday they told me". So I call the Riviera Hotel to let them know and the guy over the phone giggles and hangs up on me. At this point, I decided to enjoy my weekend and left it alone to deal with Monday morning - today. This is my story... hope I warned you of what you may come to find with your stay. (By the way - I already had alerted my credit card of this fraud). Read less

My bf and I Stayed here for 4 days (same time as stage coach, which we did not know was on at same time). We almost cancelled a few times after reading all the bad reviews but decided to give it a try. We typically stay at the Westin and JW Marriott in PS (5 starish resorts). If you are expecting a 5 star experience then this is not comparable but not a bad hotel at all (I wouldn’t quite call it a resort). Pros; - nice lobby, welcoming and clean but carpets are pretty outdated but that’s just an aesthetics thing we just noticed. Didn’t fit rest of main lobby. - staff friendly and they upgraded our room - good food at restaurant! Morning service was amazing and really good coffee! -pools are not huge but perfect, can’t hear traffic and lots of seating. There’s a full service bar at the bigger pool but not at the smaller one. -very close to dt if driving but a bit of a jaunt if walking (we are pretty active and fit and Drove dt every time we went) -bed was decently comfy, room was clean -grounds were nice, clean and well kept. -decent price for the time we went - feels like a safe area Cons: - went to restaurant for a late afternoon snack and did not get served for over 20 minutes, not even a water. Had to find someone to help us even though there were a couple other tables full outside -lobby is nice but rest of hotel area inside is very old and outdated, kind of dirty looking. - not a short walk to dt like some ppl say, maybe 6 block walk or so? - no service at smaller pool, they had a canister of water to drink but when it was empty it was never filled again - very thin walls, you can hear everything beside and above you (foot steps and cell phone alarm going off) - room service came in much later in the day so nothing was replenished when we needed it. No coffee cups and no refills of the in room coffee, no microwave for leftovers either. - we had to pay for a late check out (we’ve never paid for a late check out at any other hotel) -resort fee is very high and I would not consider this an actual resort -gym was very small and most of cardio machines did not work. It does do the job though, if it’s not very busy. Some people are more picky than others, most of this stuff did not bother us too much but may bother some a lot. We probably would not stay here again as it’s a bit over priced and we just like the service we have had at other hotels in PS. If we got a really good deal for a short trip then maybe we’d go back? But by the time you pay the high “resort fee” maybe it’s worth staying somewhere a tad nicer? Hopefully this will help out some people to make a decision though. It’s really not that bad of a hotel all in all. Read less
