The Saguaro Palm Springs

Palm Springs, USA

The hotel

The strapline, ‘Pina Coladas for breakfast – no judgements’, sets the feel-free-to-just-be tone of the Saguaro (that’s Sa-Wah-Roh, pronunciation fans). This rainbow-coloured oasis – just a hop and a skip from downtown Palm Springs – has everything you might need wrapped up a Pinata-bright Mexi-Cali package that’s as cheerful as it is chic. It’s no wonder the Saguaro has backdropped numerous fashion mag shoots in its time. But even if the only runway you’ve ever graced is at Heathrow you owe it to yourself to hit the Saguaro. Test the tacos and sample the ceviche at the El Jefe restaurant, perfect your Upward Facing Two Foot Staff in one of the daily yoga classes, or simply take the short trip from your balcony to the pool, frozen daiquiri in hand, and blisss out under the desert sun.

This hotel is great because of the pool party. The rooms are nothing special but they're clean. Stay here if you want to be somewhere lively. I've stayed here a couple of times and the guests have never gotten out of hand; however, it's probably not the best hotel choice for a family trip or classy occasion. It's popular for bachelorette parties and weekend getaways for LA natives. It's also LGBTQ friendly. The food and drinks here are tasty. Read less

Our flight had a technical issue out of Palm Springs, and we were put up here for the night. What a nightmare. This hotel obviously is for a much younger party crowd. Music played loudly in the pool area until at least 11pm with all the party going on inside and outside. The entire third floor corridor and my room smelled like some industrial strength air freshener that was nauseating. Couldn't leave the sliding door open for fresh air, without the music keeping me awake, with the door closed I was gagging until it was time to leave for the airport at 4:30 am. This hotel panders to the partiers which is fine, but just not what I needed for catching some sleep. Didn't happen. Where would you find a bottle of water to purchase? Not sure. Asked a few hotel people, they offered cups of water out of a cooler in the pool area. Hmm..odd. If you want a hot party spot, this is it. If not, beware there is no sleeping here. Read less

We had a horrible experience at this hotel. We come to Palm Springs often and have stayed at various hotels. This was by far the worst hotel we have stayed in. It really should be advertised as an under 30 party hotel. We were charged a $33 daily resort fee. Unfortunately, we could not use the pool either day because of the excessive crowd, we soon learned that they charge $25 for anyone off the street to use the pool. The partying atmosphere does not stop at 6pm when the DJ is done. It picks back up all night long throughout the hotel, both nights I made a call to the front desk at 2:00 in the morning regarding the excessive noise. On the second night at 2:00 am we had two random drunk males knocking on our patio doors, clearly mistaken for another room. We paid extra for a patio room and woke up in the morning to food dumped all over our patio. Aside from the noise and 24 hour party atmosphere, the service at the inside brunch spot was awful, we went in twice for a drink both times never got service. It was an absolutely horrible experience. We will never stay here again and will gladly spend our money on the hundreds of other much better hotels and resorts in Palm Springs. Lesson learned. Totally confirm what the other reviews have stated about this place being nothing but a dirty, frat party hotel. Read less

I've written over 100 reviews on Tripadvisor and 99% of them are praising places I have stayed, eaten or visited...then there are the 1% like this. If you are under 30 and want to party non-stop this is the hotel for you. Perfect for Bachelor & Bachelorette parties. There was a time I would have loved it too. But if this is what the hotel is good at why don't they make it clear on their website. Don't call it a "Boutique" hotel with pictures of an empty pool. This is party central, with music going all day and all night and a constant pool party. Don't even get me started on the dated room fitouts with red walls, curtains, and purple carpet. I booked for 7 days (my mistake) and checked out after 2...and now they won't even give me my money back. I had to take sleeping tablets both nights because of the party going on in the room next to mine. I hate being negative but I wouldn't want anyone to make the mistake I made. Read less

My partner and I decided to go to Palm Springs for our anniversary. We picked The Saguaro Hotel because his sister had her 50th birthday party there and had a fantastic time. Upon arrival, we were greeted with vibrant colors of the hotel. The atmosphere was already beaming with fun. Checked in and was greeted by a fun youthful engaging front team. Right there, we knew the vibe was going to be fun. We checked in our room which we were offered an cheap upgrade. Our room was a 3rd floor, cute king bed, pool facing view! When we opened the balcony doors we were then greeted to the bustling sounds of college students and music from the pool area. Wait!? That's loud we thought. Let's closed the doors again, SILENCE! Oh sweet baby jesus. The hotel is sound proof Yasss Mary! We decided to join the fun at the pool and got out spots in the sun. It being a dessert, you quickly build up a thirst, so we order drinks at the pool bar, again friendly staff. Then enjoyed our sun bath. The pool water is very cold, so if your tolerance for cold water is low, beware. Hot tub water is hot. We ended the sun bath. We showered and changed and went to El Jefe so happy hour. Cheap drinks and tacos for taco Tuesday was awesome! The fish taco was the best!! Then went back for a night cap back in the hot tub. However ended the evening with an hour on the 2 person hammocks! That was very relaxing. I would suggest wearing your robes from the rooms to stay warm in the chilly desert night air. Overall, the stay was amazing. If you are looking for a fun environment and good drinks and food choose Saguaro Hotel! Read less
