Loews Philadelphia Hotel

Philadelphia, USA

The hotel

An incredible hotel in a stunning location, the Loews is actually situated in the historic PSFS Building – Philadelphia’s first ever skyscraper! As well as spacious, well-equipped guest rooms, you’ll also enjoy the Loews brand of service – impeccable! For a heart-of-the-city hotel, the facilities are outstanding. The fitness centre not only features state-of-the-art equipment but also a two-lane heated lap pool. Pampering is also a priority – book an appointment at the world-class spa*, a relaxing massage perhaps or a beautifying facial. There are restaurants all around you but the Loews very own Bank & Bourbon should not be missed. It’s also a great place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink – a signature cocktail perhaps before hitting the town.

The hotel was clean, the staff members were helpful and friendly, and the room was spacious and bright. Changes due to COVID were explained and posted clearly. I felt safe and respected during our stay.

I thought the first frig was disgustingly dirty until I saw the replacement frig. Looks like there are rat and roach droppings all around the seams from having it in storage. There's still hair in the shower and food droppings near the bed. A lot of these things I would let slide in a 1-2 star hotel but not a 4 star. This hotel is located right next to the Reading Terminal Market which is great! The rooms look very new and modern. The front desk responds pretty quickly to request. You have to ask for slippers and toothbrushes BTW.. For these reasons, I gave this hotel a 3 star instead of a 1 or 2. Read less

Yes, times are tough for the hospitality industry and their first priority must be the health and safety of their employees and guests. But the difference between a Red Roof Inn and a Loews Hotel lies in the manner in which they are expected to handle challenges. Loews Philadelphia has chosen to completely suspend bell service and all food service, including in-room dining. This leaves a late-arriving sexagenarian couple with no assistance or food options (hint: even with the kitchen closed, did you think to keep some pre-made box lunches on hand to leave outside of a guest room upon request---albeit at an exorbitant charge?). Further, there was no acknowledgement/warning in advance that these services would be absent on the website or in the room so we could prepare. Exacerbating the situation was the curt attitude of staff to our inquiries (yes, we know you've been coping with this for months, but we've been in quarantine and it's all new to us---a little forbearance, please!) "First-World Problems"? Sure, but then again Loews is promising First-World value in return for First-World rates. I expect more creativity than I do from Red Roof Inns. Read less
