Aesthetics and design of this hotel are awesome. However, they need some coaching on luxury service. My husband and I stayed here as an extension of a business trip. I am a Gold Elite Member (have been for years). Requested a 2:00PM checking (two hours earlier than normal). I called directly to the hotel the night before to validate an early check in was possible. I was assured there would be no problem. When I husband arrived the room was not ready. When I arrived at 3:00PM, no room was available. But that was not the problem for me. the problem — the desk clerk told me that the hotel was fully booked, so early check in could not be accommodated. He then offered me an upgrade for an additional cost of $200 per night. Someone should tell these guys that If you do not intend to offer a Gold Member an upgrade (a publicized benefit), and have said you are fully booked, DO NOT try to extract $200 for an upgraded room. This sort of maneuver is not a good look. Oh. And this is our view from an 8th floor Coty View Suite. Go higher. Read less

It was nice but not luxurious. They quoted a price of a little over 300 dollars per night. It is just not worth it. The property is nice but it is about 100 years old. They lock their gates after a certain time so you can not get in except from the valet entrance. My Uber driver dropped me off at another gate. I had to find my way around to get… Read more

The room was very small (queen room). The fridge was very small and had a message in it requesting not to put any food or diary drinks in there. It was meant for non dairy beverages only. The wifi was slow. The room service was good. The menu was extensive and 24 hours on. However the food for in room service was hit or miss. I would not recommend staying here. There are much better options out in the city all around this hotel. Read less

Clean, beautiful, updated hotel with a historic vibe weaved within. Location simply cannot be beat! In the middle of it all. Shopping, restaurants, sports, and attractions all at the hotel’s doorstep. Staff friendly, but business-like lol

We stayed at the US Grant Hotel for one night and really enjoyed our stay overall. Had the service during our stay and after our stay been better, we would have scired it higher. What we liked: - The bed was very comfortable and the linens were super high quality. I prefer a firmer bed and pillows and found this to be the perfect firmness for me. - The decor in the room and the hotel in general are unique and any history and art fans will enjoy wandering the hotel to look at the sculptures. We recommend signing up for the hotel tour on Saturday mornings from 09:30-10:30 (double check day and time). - The breakfast at the restaurant was delicious and the service top notch. - The front desk staff were friendly and pleasant but require more training (more on that later). The issue we had with billing was eventually resolved and appreciate that. - Compared to other hotels we have stayed at, we found it quieter here than being right in the middle of the Gaslamp Quarter. The shower was fantastic; it had the right amount of water pressure and didn't create a flood after each use. - The overall maintenance and housekeeping is top notch. What could be improved: - At check-in, the Bonvoy Platinum benefits were not explained nor was Platinum status acknowledged. We also asked for breakfast instead of points and and were told to just go have breakfast. At breakfast, we ordered a drip coffee and an entree each. At checkout, we were billed for breakfast and told that we'd selected points. Thankfully, the agent said he'd fix the billing and email us a receipt. We still ended up being billed a significant portion for the breakfast as what we ordered was above the amount they offer for breakfast, an amount which no one told us about or explained. Eventually, the charge was cleared but we had to go back and forth more times than we would have wanted. This hotel just needs to explain what is offered in the Platinum breakfast benefit better or hand out a voucher with the details...Also, being charged $5 each for coffee at the restaurant when you can get it free in the lobby is an interesting practice that we understand but due to our experience in this situation, we are mentioning it. - We checked off the box that our issue was not resolved as we wanted to speak to someone at the hotel about our inconvenience with the breakfast benefit and billing after to share feedback about how they can better inform Bonvoy members but no one reached out to us, hence this review. Had someone reached out to us, we would have given this hotel a 4 or 5; why ask for feedback or to discuss something further and not follow-up? We waited 4 weeks after our stay before posting this review. We would stay here again for sure as it's a beautiful and comfortable hotel. We are sharing this review to help other Bonvoy members avoid the billing issue and hopefully help the hotel improve in communicating with elite members better. Read less

Had the pleasure of staying here for a week for business and it was the best hotel experience of my life. Everything about this hotel is top notch. If you’re a person who really appreciates the small things when it comes to service you will love this place. They offer all the best amenities like turn town service, high end toiletries, and free bottled water. The bed was extremely luxurious, more comfortable then my home bed. And it was quiet! Plus the building itself is beyond beautiful with fine art, crystal chandeliers, marble floors, etc. Also there are tons of breakfast options right across the street. I would stay here again and again. I didn’t want to leave. If I had to ding them on one thing it would be the towels. They weren’t bad but didn’t seem to match the quality of the rest of the experience. Also, this is out of the hotels control and is a shame, but the area directly in front of the hotel (Horton Plaza) is absolutely packed with homeless people, my colleague saw one of them use the rest room on the sidewalk outside and I had one yell at me which terrified me because I’m pregnant. It is such a shame because the area could be very lovely. But just consider the US Grant a safe haven and an oasis away from all that. Read less
