Bijou

San Francisco, USA

The hotel

This hotel’s ‘bijou’ rooms belie its ‘big’ location, just moments from the attractions of Union Square and the downtown district’s endless shopping and dining options. But it’s not just the prime location that makes Hotel Bijou so popular; guests get free double feature movies every night at the hotel’s Petit Theater – complete with complimentary popcorn. Inspired by the city’s cinematic classics, each guestroom has its own unique nod to the films that have made the region a favourite for the silver screen. With photos from a different film in each room, you’ll find everything from Hitchcock’s The Birds to Dirty Harry, Mrs Doubtfire and American Graffiti lining the walls.

We arrived at the hotel the staff were very welcoming and friendly, the room was clean it was on the smallest side but it had everything we needed. They had free hot drinks in reception and you can have buffet breakfast for 12 dollars. we were very aware of the homeless people along the streets outside the hotel, but they didn't cause us any… Read more

I booked a flight last minute with BA and this was the suggested hotel. When I arrived the Taxi Driver told me not to walk around on my own, the area wasn’t particularly safe. Being a frequent traveller this doesn’t put me off too much. However got to the Hotel. It smelt and was really very very tired. I wondered why there were ear plugs next to… Read more

Being a frequent traveller this doesn’t put me off too much. However got to the Hotel. It smelt and was really very very tired. I wondered why there were ear plugs next to the bed. At 4.20 am when the music started I realised why. I was jet lagged so maybe heard more than normal to be fair. If you are a light sleeper this is not one for you. Staff were very friendly which is why it gets a 3. Meant to stay for 2 nights checked out after 1. Others on my flight had done the same and were equally as unimpressed. Read less

My room was comfortable, well remodeled, and clean. It was a bit in the small side, but could have been nicer with just a queen bed and more room to move around the space. Unfortunately, my window was facing Mason St, so the car and trucks were loud all night. The poor ear plugs they provided barely helped, which tells me they know about the… Read more

Future remodel should include double insulated windows. Rate was decent for San Francisco rates at $199/night. Read less

Very convenient to Moscone Center and cable cars. San Francisco has a significant problem with homeless people. Several are on the streets nearby, however they posed no problem. Note: This is not a hotel problem, it is a City problem. Bottom line: great hotel and staff, great stay! Thank you Hotel Bijou! Read less

Had a 3 night stay at this hotel last week. The hotel has been recently refurbished and the entrance and cafe bar were beautifully decorated with great prices and delicious food. The room was big and spacious (if just a little loud from the outside noise) with a large bathroom. All very clean and Morden. The area around the hotel does has homeless about but honestly they just do their own thing. It’s very close to all the big hotels and shops like Nordstrom, Sax, etc. Staff were also very helpful and pleasant. Read less
