The hotel

Just the place for that road trip stopover in San Francisco, Da Vinci Villa puts you in the Russian Hill district, a short stroll from must-see sights like Lombard Street and Ghiradelli Square. Its location, just uphill from the waterfront, also grants many of the guestrooms top-notch views of Golden Gate Bridge, and means it’s just a walk in either direction to the bridge or Fisherman’s Wharf. If you don’t fancy walking, you’ve also got great transport links nearby. Each morning, they lay out a complimentary Continental breakfast, so you can fill up on pastries, fruit, and those Stateside essentials, sauce-slathered waffles. And, although the city’s on your very doorstep, the hotel will tempt you back with complimentary WiFi, a bijou fitness room, and a courtyard suntrap hosting one of the city’s few (and coveted) hotel pools.

I went with few expectations and I was surprised. Good service, very friendly staff, predisposed. Maybe the area is a bit desolate.Although by day it is very quiet and is close to all. Take into account the value of parking $ 40 per day, is San Francisco ...

We arrived weary and delayed from Sydney and first impressions were it was a bit run down and had seen better days - I thought we’d taken a time machine to the early ‘80s - Browns and creams ahoy! However the staff were just lovely and we went into the slowest lift on the planet to the fourth flour of retro quadrangle balconied apartments ..the room was large, spartan and totally acceptable for our needs. It was clean, warm and comfortable. We didn’t hear any noise and the bathroom was well equipped and clean. The apartment was on Van Ness Street about a 15 minute flat walk to the water and Fisherman’s wharf and a 5 minute uphill walk to the vibrant Polk Street with food and buzz aplenty. I took my three children and we slept in the one room it was ample for our needs. I can’t comment on the smells others have said about as I have no sense of smell! Free wifi..lots of power points a large tv, comfy beds, large room, the breakfast was very basic with no juice and just bagels, pastries and donuts but it set us up for the day. The staff were a real joy and so helpful I would recommend this place if you’re going to San Francisco to sight see all day and come back to somewhere basic and warm. Thank you da Vinci villa! Slept very badly because of the noise from the next room. Breakfast was simple nothing special. I sent 3 emails enquiring parking and luggage storage... didn't get any response but we had free parking and we could storage our luggage. I don't think I would not come back again and I would not recommend. Read less

We stayed for one night. The lobby seemed quite nice but the room itself, it was more like motel. And the worst thing was that the sound proof was so bad we could hear EVERYTHING from the next room. The couple next to us were having “fun” all night long and that really killed our sleep. My husband and I woke up several times during the night… Read more

The couple next to us were having “fun” all night long and that really killed our sleep. My husband and I woke up several times during the night because of the noise. We thought of asking the front desk if we could change the room but we were too tired to get up and it was only for one night so we just stayed but if it was a longer stay, I would definitely have made complains. The breakfast was quite simple and good that they had it but not the best. I don’t think I would ever come back to this hotel again. Read less

Hotel price is expensive for a very stinky and dirty carpet, filthy dirty bed sheets as well. We arrived too early Receptionist offered us to place our luggages in the bag storage, I Will make sure that my friends and family will not book on this hotel.
