The hotel

You might feel like you’ve boarded a luxury cruise ship as you enter this distinctive boutique hotel, perched on the edge of the bay. The Argonaut’s original red brick walls, rich wood beams and ‘deck floors’ help to transport you back to San Francisco’s nautical heyday. At the same time, the plush décor provides all you need to settle in to your charming surrounds. Until, of course, those views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz lure you out to explore all that is Fisherman’s Wharf.

Great location for sea front and fisherman wharf. Rooms had spectacular view of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. The hotel had a great maritime theme with clever designs. Would highly recommend. Would like to return another time.

The Argonaut is in a great location. It is slightly away from the main touristy area of Pier 39, but still not too far away. The building itself is beautiful and the nautical theme is nice. The staff are all extremely professional and helpful. From reception, the door people and the cleaning people - a warm “hello” from the cleaning people is always a great touch also. The room was as expected, of a high standard and most of all, the bed was comfortable! Gone are the days when I can sleep on any kind of bed and my back appreciated the firmness of the mattress - it wasn’t too firm, it was just perfect. We had breakfast at the hotel, which was very nice, but for a more all singing, all dancing kind of a breakfast, I’d recommend The Hollywood Cafe on North Point Street. We went on quite a few tours during our time in San Francisco, our favourites were out to visit the coastal Redwoods at Muir Woods, and of course, Alcatraz Island. Don’t forget the $5 all day vintage street car pass! Read less

We enjoyed a great view of Alcatraz! Excellent location made it possible for us to walk all over North Beach! They historic Del Monte building was beautiful! From the Bike the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito and the Ferry back I felt like my stay was inclusive of great location to activities that I could do like walking, e-cycling and eating!

Looking to stay at Fisherman's Wharf area this is your best choice. Walking distance to all attractions at the pier, but near a public beach and the more local restaurants to dine. Excellent restaurant and bar as part of the hotel. Only walking distance away from the crowds, hustle & bustle.

We loved the Argonaut hotel. The location can't be beat- we walked down to Pier 39 and to the Alcatraz tour dock. The views of the bay are amazing. The staff was very sweet and surprised us on our birthday trip. The rooms were clean and very spacious. We would definitely stay here again.
