Argonaut Hotel at Fishermans Wharf

Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco

The hotel

You might feel like you’ve boarded a luxury cruise ship as you enter this distinctive boutique hotel, perched on the edge of the bay. The Argonaut’s original red brick walls, rich wood beams and ‘deck floors’ help to transport you back to San Francisco’s nautical heyday. At the same time, the plush décor provides all you need to settle in to your charming surrounds. Until, of course, those views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz lure you out to explore all that is Fisherman’s Wharf.

Our room was large and clean, with a nice outlook. We didn’t hear any street noise and found the beds to be very comfortable. We ate one dinner and one breakfast at the Blue Mermaid restaurant which was quite acceptable, but nothing to rave about. The only thing that stops me from giving this hotel a score of five stars was the service. The staff seemed quite disinterested which is a shame as the environment appears to be a nice place to work. We experienced much better service at other hotels on our trip and given that the Argonaut was our final stop it is a bit hard not to compare the service we received. If you are deliberating though about a nice room in a quiet yet very well located spot, I would definitely stay at the Argonaut. Read less

This was our second time staying at The Argonaut and definitely won’t be the last. We spent 4 nights in San Francisco and this hotel is just wonderful, as are the staff who work here. We had requested a quiet room and received just that. Our room was clean, beautifully presented and a welcome respite to come home to after being out sightseeing all day. I have to mention Jessie on reception, whose smiling face and wonderful customer service skills are a credit to your hotel. We will certainly be back. Read less

Stayed the night here while sight seeing and enjoying SF, Fisherman’s Wharf area. Loved the ambiance and atmosphere. Rooms are chic and classy, beds super comfortable. Definitely going back on our next trip to the area.

This was my first stay with the Noble house hotel collection and was quite honestly very underwhelmed and unimpressed to the point of doubting that I will try another Noble House hotel again in the future. The location of the hotel is great and conveniently located however the value and quality of the rooms as well as the overall appearance and cleanliness were very disappointing for a 4 star hotel. Numerous small things add up to make the experience less than great: 1) Mold growing in the showers behind the soap dispensers 2) cobwebs above the bed on the ceiling 3) outdated shower/bathroom features which I would expect to see in other 2-3 star establishments 4) no robes or slippers provided in rooms, when requested took 25 minutes to be delivered and arrived after we had already given up on them coming. 5) "Deluxe king room with upgraded views" is very misleading as the rooms had a view of next to nothing through a small window and nothing more to the room than what I would expect from a standard room in a hotel of this caliber. Although these are small things, I feel that for the price paid and being touted as a 4 star hotel, these things should not be an issue. The pros: 1) restaurant was good, good food offerings and nice service 2) overall positive experience with the front desk staff and valet who were all very professional and welcoming. 3) Location again remains good in the heart of everything and convenient to the purpose of my stay. I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. It was close to fisherman‘s wharf, and I could easily walk around town and experience the sights. The hotel was beautiful, with warm and friendly service and very clean rooms. I would definitely stay here again!
