Argonaut Hotel at Fishermans Wharf

Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco

The hotel

You might feel like you’ve boarded a luxury cruise ship as you enter this distinctive boutique hotel, perched on the edge of the bay. The Argonaut’s original red brick walls, rich wood beams and ‘deck floors’ help to transport you back to San Francisco’s nautical heyday. At the same time, the plush décor provides all you need to settle in to your charming surrounds. Until, of course, those views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz lure you out to explore all that is Fisherman’s Wharf.

My company reserved a block of rooms at the Argonaut during a recent industry conference (downtown SF). At first, i was a little upset not being nearby. The Wharf area is a 15 minute Uber/Taxi ride to downtown. Once I arrived, i realized that the hotel has more charm than i thought. I arrived Sunday evening and ordered room service which arrived promptly and was reasonably tasty. That evening there was some street music which ended around 9PM. The front desk was extremely helpful when i called to ask about the situation. No problem with a getting an Uber early in the morning. The area is very quiet in the early AM. There is no early morning room service but Starbucks up the street opens at 5AM. The room itself was nice, with a naval theme throughout. WiFi worked well. Bathrooms are mediocre and can use some updating. If you want to stay in the Wharf area, this is a good option for tourists/families. For business, i would want to stay closer to downtown. Read less

Stayed at this hotel for almost a week. Excellent location. We had a king size suit with a pull out bed. I have to say the bed for me was not comfortable but my husband liked it so not a valid thing for me to complain about. My husband was on business so my son and I really enjoyed this hotel. I have to say the bed for me was not comfortable but my husband liked it so not a valid thing for me to complain about. My husband was on business so my son and I really enjoyed this hotel. The hotel is amazing. The restaurant downstairs too. Room service was delicious and super fast. The hotel is older and the plugs by the bed didn't work so well but we made it work. The view and the ambiance was perfection. We would not stay anywhere else in SF. Great place to walk around from and trolly's are right next door. This hotel was great and we highly recommend it. Great for kids too. Really felt like home. Read less

Great Hotel with a fabulous location. Our room was extremely comfortable and the housekeeping was exceptional. Reception staff were friendly and helpful with lots of local knowledge. They took time to explain local transport etc. Loved this hotel.

Showed up on New Years Eve, and realized I had made my reservation a year from that data. Yikes! Still, they treated me well, found a nice room for me rapidly, and gave me coupons for two free glasses of wine for my trouble (which I had caused). Very professional, and hospitable. I had a wonderful two night stay.
