Galleria Park Hotel

San Francisco, USA

The hotel

The boutique Galleria Park Hotel has had a complete refresh throughout, combining it's art deco history with modern touches. The city’s attractions are right outside but, if the hills put you off, you’ve got easy access to the BART network, or you could just head up to the hotel’s Park Terrace, featuring an urban garden with a gentler walking track. Extras include WiFi and morning tea and coffee. And the evening wine receptions are an ideal free treat before heading to Gaspar, a Parisian-style brasserie where French favourites like simple croque monsieur or hearty steak frites are served with a Norcal twist.

Bottom line: I had more than one issue, which I did politely ask for assistance on, and never got a resolution or even any options at all. Bottom line: I had more than one issue, which I did politely ask for assistance on, and never got a resolution or even any options at all. If you want to know the details (I'll try to keep this short, but it's going to be hard): I arrived later in the evening and when I walked into my first hotel room, it was not clean. Empty water bottles, crumpled up robe, and other noticeable items. The front desk person was very nice and switched me immediately. He offered a bottle of wine for the inconvenience to be sent up to the room (we decided on a Cabernet - yes, we got specific). The new room was fine, decor wise. Looked relatively clean. No real complaints. The bottle of wine never came. I don't really care about the bottle as I wasn't interested in having a glass anyway, but why would you say your sending one up and then don't send it? weird. Anyway it doesn't stop there. They must have given me the worst room in the hotel as my second room. I consider myself a professional sleeper and the noise level was not okay. It was like I was sleeping on the streets of San Francisco next to a construction site and highway. I had my sound machine app on high, ear plugs in, and my head between two pillows and I still woke up every hour and fought to go back to sleep. I can't even imagine if my husband was in this situation. He's a light sleeper and there's no way he'd make it through one night. I had two more nights of this hotel, so the next morning I asked for a room change. I was already running short on time and couldn't change right then. The front desk man offered that I check back when I do have time to switch and they would see what was available. After a full day of meetings, I had about 30 minutes to switch rooms before a dinner event. I rushed back, explained to the new older man at the front desk the situation and not only was he the most unhelpful, unaccommodating person, he very short and rude about it. Like there was zero compassion there. I was running late and didn't have the mental capacity to convince this older man that the hotel should offer some sort of option to this issue. So I left to run upstairs to drop my work bag off so I could head to my event. Well... now the door keys don't work. I had to go back down stairs and get new keys, from the same man who was unbelievably rude to me. This box is cutting me off, but I went down another time, was told I had no other options besides leaving the hotel. Still paid full price. Nothing resolved Read less

Great value, great room, great staff and the wine and coffee service in the lobby is a bonus. The hotel was stylish and the service was delightful. Close to shopping, restaurants and parking garage was safe and just a block up.
