Hotel Carlton

San Francisco, USA

The hotel

This neat little brick building in Lower Nob Hill hides an eclectic yet calm downtown hotel. It echoes the city’s free-spirited soul in its interior styling, its dining menu, its complimentary evening wine receptions, and its eco-conscious character. Hotel Carlton’s pale backdrop frames eye-popping global design details, with bold patterned fabrics, Nepalese temple photos, and hand-painted Moroccan tables bringing a sense of ethnic chic. And at Saha O, the hotel’s restaurant, the transcontinental vibe continues with a fusion of Yemeni, Arabic, Californian, and French influences. Inside may be global, but outside you’re unequivocally in San Francisco – right on trendy Sutter Street, it’s just 3 blocks from the cable car turnaround, 6 blocks from Union Square, and 8 blocks from Chinatown.

Great boutique hotel, especially for the price - it makes you feel fancy even on a budget. Wonderful staff, very helpful and kind. Clean rooms. Awesome interior design. When I visit San Francisco again, I will stay at Hotel Carlton.

They went far and beyond to help me during my stay here. My Alcatraz booking fell through and they called the company where I made the reservation and ended up giving me their Alcatraz gift certificate!

What a great place! We stay in SF often and we finally found THE hotel! The restaurant was great. The room furnishings were so cool, very eclectic and funky. Clean and tidy. Glass water pitcher to fill at filtered station.
