So disappointed in this hotel. SF is known for boutique hotels, however Hotel Vitale needs a facelift desperately! The rooms are dull & lackluster. Online they were described as being tranquil in blue. My room was spacious by SF standards, but lacked anything special. Luckily my view made up for the ambience of the room. It's my understanding they will be updating the hotel in a year, and I will not be back until it's brought into the 21st century. The staff was very professional & friendly, the restaurant was outstanding! Read less

Nice boutique hotel with excellent location. Generally higher standard for San Francisco, a cool bar at lobby level. When I arrived I got a room just across a ventilation system, but after complaining the services team managed to get me into a different room with stunning view across the Bay Bridge and Embarcadero. I can recommend.

To say I am disappointed with what happened this afternoon is an understatement. Arrived from a short stay in Las Vegas as first time visitors to the US from Australia. Made booking with Booking.com and cancelled but then after hours more research I rebooked the Vitale because of the location and reviews. I sent emails to the hotel regarding this and our arrival time with no response. My bookings.com app clearly showed the new booking. Upon arrival at the hotel I was greeted by two ladies on the front desk who couldn't find my booking. The room I had booked (King with Partial Water View) was not available. Nor, apparently was a room of better quality. I was offered two options of lesser value but told that as I had booked a good rate (I showed them the confirmation on the phone) I would not receive a discount as the price had increased by $200 / night since my booking!!! Perhaps I would have selected the lesser room but both women were actually very rude and showed no compassion plus the fact no discount was going to be offered without speaking to management I decided to search elsewhere. When I left I double checked I would not be charged and said we were leaving. I got no further apology or sincerity of any kind, in actual fact they just seemed annoyed at my requests to see what room types were available and everything seemed like a hassle, despite it being through no fault of ours. The hotel blamed bookings.com for the cancellation, despite having it all confirmed from them on my end. I can happily state that we got amazing treatment at the The Huntington a Hotel and they went above and beyond to ensure our stay inSan Fran wasn't going to be spoilt. Read less

I try to stay here whenever I come to SF. Location by the Embarcadero is a plus, rooms are spacious, comfortable and modern, bar is lively with good shelf selections, and the restaurant is very good, and much appreciated at the end of a long jet-lagged evening flight. (I actually was last there in April 2018 but am putting in the review now.)

I stayed here for a week on a business trip. I loved the small feel of this hotel, the location across from the Ferry Building and the great service.
