Not to mention that the bed sheets were RIPPED, the carpets were STAINED and the shower curtains were ripped as well. Isn't this a 4/5 star establishment?? How are they charging $400 a night for their simplest room, when their guests have to shower in a mold infested bathroom and sleep in ripped sheets? Keep your money and take it to somewhere else. No one should have to sleep in such a room, absolutely revolting! (Side note: We went to the lobby and spoke to the manager, Megan F, and she told us that since the room has mold in it, she would approve a full refund as long as Expedia accepts it. We spoke to Expedia, they accepted it and Expedia sent the refund request to the hotel and guess what- Ms. Megan F. declined it! I couldn't believe it, the management at Fairmont are UNPROFESSIONAL and absolute LIARS.) Read less

We just returned home from 5 nights at the Fairmont. We had a great time there. Some of the reviews in the past couple of months mention that the place is a mausoleum or a morgue. Luckily, that has changed. There was constant activity in the common areas, with the dining room, bar and, yes, the Tonga Room open. It is of course a beautiful hotel. We were 2 adults and 1 child and we booked a room in the "old" building with a king and sofa bed for our teen. The room was a good size, with a big bathroom and a huge closet. It worked well for us. We were a little disappointed that room cleaning only came once every other day. Disappointed that we weren't told about it at check in more than the actual idea of it. But no big deal. We had a great view of Alcatraz and Coit Tower. The windows could use a good washing. (That would be a massive job, and I'm not sure how long they'd stay clean though). We did love that both the main window and the window in the bathroom opened about four inches to let in a wonderful breeze and keep the room fresh. We totally lucked out at the Tonga Room! We were putting our name on the wait list (2 hours) when we were informed a table in the bar area for 3 had just opened up. We had tremendous fun there and ran up a tremendous bill as well! Lastly, a word of caution. We had stayed at the Huntington Hotel across the street 15 or so years prior, so we knew about Nob Hill and the climb back home to the room. However, I'm 15 years older and that climb is rough, especially coming home from walking all day. It's important to note that the cable cars are NOT running right now, they're shooting for August. So that is not an option. Uber is your friend, that's all I'll say. So, overall, a very nice stay in an iconic hotel! Read less

There was an odor in our room but with some febreeze it was fine. Vive at the front desk was very funny and helpful with our questions. Breakfast was delicious but prices a bit high, but expected for this type of hotel. Location to everything is great, no more than a 25 min walk to the wharf. Felt very safe around the hotel. The rooftop garden is a must visit. Overall a great place and we would stay again. Read less

We ended a 2 week family vacation at the Fairmont. Beautiful hotel and accommodations. We had a suite and a regular room. Both were spacious, well appointed and very clean. We wished there were more dining options- but understand as we come out of Covid. All staff were very attentive and professional.
