San Francisco Marriott Marquis

San Francisco, USA

The hotel

As well as it’s prime downtown location, one of the big draws of the San Francisco Marriott Marquis is it’s dining scene. Why not start off in The View Lounge where you can take in the incredible city views. At this Art Deco-inspired rooftop bar, you can enjoy tasty sharing plates and handcrafted cocktails as you gaze out over San Francisco. Also worthy of a mention is the B55 Craft House & Kitchen. This popular gastropub serves local comfort food with innovative twists, alongside a huge choice of artisanal beers and a selection of bourbons. When you need to walk off some of that food, you’re in a great spot to wander out and tick off the city sights. And at the end of the day, relax in your contemporary room — its soundproof windows making it even more restful.

Please avoid this hotel at ALL costs! This is a pretty rough area with limited parking availability. I had to park almost two blocks away and there were homeless people everywhere. The parking structure that the Marquis directed me to was about two blocks away and charged $40. It was very unsafe and scary considering I had no knowledge of the surrounding area. I was provided a final bill of zero dollars upon checkout since I unable to secure one of their limited $80 per night parking spots. Upon checking my online statements today I was appalled to see a $250 SMOKING CHARGE! (I DIDN’T SMOKE ANYTHING) This hotel is obviously in trouble financially and has resorted to making up frivolous charges! DON’T stay here! I asked for a room with “city view” and was situated in a corner room with a view of the surrounding skyscrapers....no skyline in sight! I’m almost certain these smoking charges were concocted due to the fact I used my Priceline VIP gold rate! Do your research and search for a safer, honest location! I have NEVER had this type of experience with a hotel! PLEASE BE CAREFUL IN THIS LOCATION AFTER DUSK!!!!! If 0 stars was an option that would be my review! Read less

I must say I loved my stay here! It is a huge hotel with wonderful views and the rooms are so beautiful! The bed was one of the comfiest I have ever slept in! I also needed some white noise (such as a fan that other CA hotels had), since their AC is so quiet. I laughed when I saw there was an actual white noise machine on the nightstand! WIN!… Read more

I also needed some white noise (such as a fan that other CA hotels had), since their AC is so quiet. I laughed when I saw there was an actual white noise machine on the nightstand! WIN! Turned that baby on and morning came quick. I’ve never slept so perfectly, and I am ordering one of those machines for home! I was very impressed with the friendliness and cleanliness of the hotel. Disappointed the restaurant/bar were closed due to COVID, but it’s not their fault. Next time.. Read less

We checked in yesterday at 1:30 and out at 7:30. We came to stay overnight, just to get out of the house. The hotel is nice and clean. We booked an executive suite and were given a larger suite - which was a plus. We just wished there had been a touch of hospitality. For instance, we have twin 3 year olds - how about more than 2 towels for a family of 4? We know that services are curtailed due to COVID - we just didn’t expect no glasses in the room, having to ask for everything (towels, robes, etc.). We thought there may be abbreviated club lounge service, or an amenity in lieu - no. We got a room. We were uncomfortable and decided to go home, checking out just hours later, we were not asked how our stay was, why we were leaving early. Just, “you’re all set.” 3 stars is not bad - it’s average. 5-star service, 5-star rooms, and 5-star bar. With its precise location close to restaurants, shopping areas, and the pier, I would highly recommend to any business travelers and convention center area visitors in Downtown San Francisco.
